I dont know if you guys use this strategy but it has worked out pretty well for me in a lot of games recently.
Since RJF have more or less unlimited move range you can use them as snipers to get characters. Fly
right next to them or in a way that they are the closest unit, usually behind enemy lines, and unload everything on them. A smart/experienced opponent might cover them but most times with all the moves and charges going on thats not the case.
You do get them right into the enemy's face where they can be shot at thats true but lets be honest the weapons that can do the most damage to them can target them anywhere anyways, plus they are pretty safe from nonflyer charges as well so its not like you move them to their deaths.
And from my experience when you use this strategy the opponent gets demoralised and usually spends alot of firepower to try to down them which gives you free reign for your more fragile units behind...
Well let me know your experiences with them

I've tried this one versus a space wolves character (went right behind him) and even if he didn't died (7hp & 3++ 6+++) it got several hp off.

+ it's an excellent distraction carnifex, peoples really don't like to have big stuff around their table zone.
I recommend it

Yes, it's a good trick. I recently killed some important chaos dude with this T1. Works like a charm occasionally, but your opponent will unfortunately remember it next time. But then after a few games they'll forget again. Keep this in mind also with crewed artillery platforms.

But do calculate that you can probably kill the target before moving.

Almost killed a winged deamon prince last game, it survived with 3 wounds and brutalized my plane in his next turn, but was almost warlord kill.

I tend to waffle when it comes to this strategy. I play three fliers and two units of Dark Lances Scourges so the option is usually available to me on turn one or two but I tend to stick to downing heavy guns and vehicles instead.

Depends on the character I guess though? In one of my last games against Mechanicum I had the option to bring all the Scourges right behind Belisarius Cawl but it would've assured their deaths, maybe I'm a fool but I opted to just give the guy an 18" berth for the rest of the game and he didn't get a chance to do much.

If a character is stranded mid-game or has been pulled out of position by whatever means I'll usually darklight snipe them at that point but early game I need my fliers to trash the stuff that's threatening my vehicles most. Even against a mobile threat like a demon prince I feel like it'll typically take more than a well placed RWJ to kill it, so I think it depends on whether you can kill with confidence, I don't like to shoot what I'm not planning to kill or cripple that phase.
