Hey! Thanks a bunch for the info.

I'm not gonna run a Ynnari army, if only because it doesn't match the theme. I tend towards specialized units, rather than jack of all trades units, but that idea may be turned on its head a bit just by the general direction of 40k right now. The multiple target thing is really different, even when compared to other game systems.

I'm probably not going to go towards Ravagers honestly, not just to buck the trend and be edgy and different (Oh no! The foul Hipster Eldar are upon us!) but because I think speed is the general theme of my army, more so than punch. Everything goes in a transport that can. Every that's fast goes fast. Things that aren't transports are even faster than transports when possible. That's the whole run I suspect.

Ravagers are really fun, good and neat, They are one of DE's better units, but they also are fluffy.

If you like fast and thinking of Ynnari, there are 2 other units you can try as well, the Wave Serpent with all Shuriken ad a couple Vehicle upgrades can have it move+advance (thats new term for run/advance) shoot, get a -1 to hit and 6+++ (FnP basically).

There is also the Hornet, again with Shuriken and some Vehicle upgrades, its weaker/smaller and less shots, but its also cheaper a bit and has -2 to hit against it.

Scourges are great as well, can hold onto them (You pick what turn you DS, either turn 1, 2 or 3) so you can keep them safe and bring them out when you need.

These are just ideas for fast units for you that fit the theme with your Reavers.

If you wanted to stay DE, Beasts a little bit slower but just as fun and are actually kinda good, i play with 6 flocks and 3 claw fiends almost every game, the Beast master is basically a hellion also so it fits too.

I was thinking of investing in Scourges, especially since a unit of ten is only gonna run me about 60 bucks.

Heavier support units I'm still working on however. Still walking the line of what I want for that.

Keep in mind about ravagers, they're fast. Dark Lance's on them are assualt. Scourges are the essence of glass cannons for us. I drop mine in cover and just let them snipe the board with 36" dark lance.

Yea, but I almost dig the idea of bringing in the Razorwing Jetfighter as my AT, just because of the imagary of all these bikes buzzing across the ground, with raiders and venoms coming in after them, and then a couple Razerwings buzzing past them as the attack commences.

Razorwings are fantastic all arounders. If you take 3 you have 6 lances and an extra command point to spend on said lances. They're hellishly fast and I feel can really reward risky play. The missiles can do a number on infantry but I feel it's better to just keep the tl splinter rifle than the cannon since you'll likely be in the face of stuff anyways.

Yea. I intend to play high risk.

Maximum speed man. Raiders, Venoms, Bikes, and jets. It'll be hilarious. Either epic blitz, or epic fail, lol

I am also hoping that DE get some new/updated miniature releases with their codex. Like you said we seem to have a lot of finecast and also we have a lot of mono pose models in the DE range.

All of the Beasts, all of the Archon Court and Grotesques miniatures are mono pose and put me off buying them...I have never even slightly considered using any of them because of this. I think think the single Clawed Fiend model looks awesome BTW but I would prefer some pose variety.

Mandrakes and Incubi being finecast again have put me off buying them...even though I think these are some of our best looking units.

So far though it would seem a new codex does not come with new miniatures as they seem more focused on Primaris and Death Guard which is understandable. Maybe with our codex being a later release there is a small chance.

I find it hard to imagine them not updating it so that mainstream units like Incubi and Mandrakes aren't plastic. It's not in GW's best interests to continue with Finecast.

I have some metal Incubi still. Pre-Finecast but the same sculpt. If I really wanted to run them, I'd run my unit of 5 there. But in general I strongly dislike the static poses. Still, I'll take metal over Finecast any day. Finecast is honestly the worst thing GW has ever done. Hot. Garbage.

Do you find that the dark eldar minis look super cool when they are first released but they don't seem to age well? For example I was perfectly fine with the first batch of Wyches but now...hell no! It was the 1st Raider that won me over all those years ago...and the Incubi looked awesome back then as well. Now though the old minis look dreadful.

I do like the current Incubi, I think they look good but seeing some of the stuff GW have recently released does make me wonder what could be done with the DE.

Incubi
Mandrakes
Grotesques
Beasts
Drahzar
Ravager
Archon
Archon Court

I think these could all be a lot better.

I suspect without new sculpts in plastic its hard to judge if they're going to look good or not.

In general, I find the whole line looks great. I think they've aged well honestly. Though I don't think the court or beasts mostly have. But that's because their static I suspect. :\

I used Ogres and Talos bits for my 20+ Grotesques, i also used Crypt Horrors for my Claw Fiends.

As far as your list, Ravagers are fine.

And instead of a new Archon model in General, i want one that is posed to be able to got on Skyboard, Bike or wings, the Archon should be our Autarch.

I should add that half of my army is still the 3rd edition models (all of my Kabal transports are vintage raiders, my Trueborn are Vintage Warriors. My incubi are vintage. My Bloodbrides are vintage Wyches. My Reavers are vintage. My Ravager is vintage.)

So yeah. the non vintage stuff holds up FAR better Razz

I wish we had a better archon model. But that's why I'm gonna kit bash my Archon to make him look like a badass. The King in Yellow should be no less than truly inspiring to look upon. i really do wish they'd given us more options for the Archon to take things. You are correct when you say he should be like the Autarch.

Realistically, in the HQ department, we have really cheap HQ's, like unbelievably so, but their effectiveness is highly suspect. There just aren't any worthwhile upgrades. It feels very constrained and really doesn't seem like he's gonna get much business done. For an ancient killer of mysterious origin and unbridled power, the Archons seem little better than thugs with low strength Razz

Though sadly, they are still my favourite HQ choice, if only for the theme. Not that the other choices feel or seem much better.

For the whole army it looks like HQ's are the most famished.

The 5th edition Archon model was way better than the 7th edition model. Just putting it out there.

I have the 5th edition one at home, but its already painted to another scheme and was cutom built. I gave it two Dark Elf arms to look like he had a hammer and glowing sword. I wasn't as good at painting back then though, sadly. I used to run him with an Agonizer and Husk Blade. Back before the Soul Trap was something which took up a weapon slot.

It was awesome. Agonizer to kill my first character victim, then Husk Blade at Strength 6 the rest of the monsters or heroes!!!! lol

So, beyond having just ordered my stuff, dropped by the local shop and it is now all in hand. Pretty sweet.

I'm pretty sure all I'll need now for my planned 2000 point list is 2 Razerwings and a Venom. Sweet.

Just figured on this one. Based off the minis I got and the theme I'm running:

HQ:

x1 Archon.
Husk Blade. (I like it. I know its not the greatest lol)

Troops:

x8 Kabalite Warriors /w Sybarite (9 models)
x1 Blaster
x1 Sybarite: Agonizer + Pistol
Transport
Raider w/ Dark Lance

x9 Kabalite Warriors /w Sybarite (10 models)
x1 Blaster
Sybarite: Agonizer + Pistol
Transport
Raider w/ Dark Lance

Elites:

x4 Trueborn /w Dracon (5 models)
4x Blasters
x1 Dracon: Agonizer + Blast Pistol
Venom

Fast Attack:

x5 Reavers /w Arena Champion
Grav Talons x2
Champion: Agonizer

x5 Reavers /w Arena Champion
Grav Talons x2
Champion: Agonizer

x5 Reavers /w Arena Champion
Grav Talons x2
x2 Blaster
Champion: Agonizer

x5 Reavers /w Arena Champion
Grav Talons x2
x2 Blaster
Champion: Agonizer

Flyers

Razerwing Jetfighter:
x2 Dark Lances
x2 Splinter Rifles

Razerwing Jetfighter:
x2 Dark Lances
x2 Splinter Rifles

Thar be the whole list as I've gotten it worked out so far.

The main reason for me adding the Ravager to the list is because my feeling is that for what is our main/only boat tank it would have been nice to have a stand alone kit. All DE players know that they can end up running 3 Raiders min with another 3 Ravagers and I genuinely feel from a hobby/creative aspect it all feels and looks a bit same same. The ravager has been popular regardless, but for me I would have preferred some variety.

You might not agree but I think that GW have historically been a bit lazy with the DE line. I do believe that we have some of the best looking models out there. 90% of the line looks amazing.

When I mentioned how DE minis don't age well I was talking more so about the original Haemy, Mandrakes, Wyches, Kabs, Archon. When you look back at them now you can just see how little effort went in. Compare old Kabs to new Kabs and they are worlds apart.

To be fair, most of the new models were done during their big revamp, and most were done by Jes Goodwin himself. That is kinda important.

I did start to list the models we have that I think are freakin awesome and realised the list was so big I might as well say 90% lol I hope it doesnt sound like I am beating up on our models because I really love them...but DE always feel like we just fell short of being a completed list.

Well because they are.

We've got a lot of finecast, and few character options, or special characters.

Having finecast is not bad in itself, for a lot of models (Aspect warriors, for example), it's actually nice.
The problem is having finecast, mono-pause, unboxed models for a unit that has to be fielded en-masse : beasts. It's absolutly impossible to field an army of Khymeras/RWF without converting them, because you can't pay 10 bucks per model for something that costs 10 points.

I actually find Finecast to be such an unacceptable material, I would rather not own the model, or even play with it, if its the only real option.

Absolutely detest it.

Might i ask why ?
I'm very happy with my finecast Fire Dragons. They require a bit more attention to unbox, but that's all.

Firstly, I despise Resin almost inherently.

Secondly, the soft resin they use I find utterly unacceptable for tabletop play, and I'm pretty careful with my stuff. I dislike their quality control (which has supposedly gotten better. Only I can attest to how much "better" its become with the last finecast model I got. Which was basically a lump of poo pretending to be a model.)

Its needlessly expensive for genuinely cheap models. Finecast is cheap. Its designed to be cheap, and its sold for more than metals were. The only "advantage" it has, is the fact that it doesn't chip like metal has a tendency too (even sealed it can be a bit of a pain)

But no. I can't say enough negative things about Finecast. Never again. Never had a good experience. Always a pain in the ass even when GW's shipped me replacements. Absolutely horrid.
