 Competetive list idea

Hello folks,

I played today against a knights army and brought a very nasty list to deal with them. All in on dark lances and a farseer for doom. Worked extremly well as I managed to take down a knight per turn. My opponent said it was a very good list and i should try how it works against other armies.

Do you guys see any argument to run this list over the more traditional approach? Meaning some assault and blaster kabalites/blasterborn.

My strategy is to destroy pretty much the biggest threats on my first turn including transport. Snowballing from there. I shoot from 36" and try to stay in a  24" distance as long as possible. Once I took down all "heavy" stuff I get closer to clean up the rest.

Of course this list has hard counters (horde spam) but it should do well against most vehicle/monster lists.

I believe that it is true that a horde army would just roll over that list. It seems tailored to combat vehicles. It would also struggle with elite armies and certain Necron builds. Ynnari would probably jump in glee seeing this list too.

Did I miss the troop choices somewhere? O.o cause that could add at least a little anti horde to the list.

AI are venoms plus trueborns with their rifles and the Flyers. Quite some shots. But surely this list is not ment to face horde lists but lower model count lists.

Fair enough, what are you bringing for troop choices? I'm pretty sure you need a minimum of three troop choices for a battalion to be legal.

Thats a mistake. It should be a vanguard detachment. I saw another error. Vanguards can have only 2 heavy support. Hence one ravager becomes 4 dl scourges.

That makes a lot more sense. And that should definitely make for a list that can handle monster and vehicles with ease.

I had another match with this list today against some space marine list with 4 dreadnoughts and 2 rhinos.

I shot him down before he even destroyed a venom of mine. It was a bit to effective at this level since my opponent became quite annoyed at the lance spam and did not see what he could do to conter it with his army.

To effective shooting cribbling his movment. Even if he did reach meele I could easyly get out and shoot him again.

Yeah ... That is a problem that people have noticed is that the game is balanced around "moderation" of units and weapons, but the second one unit or weapon steps out of moderation it becomes overly effective at it's job. And 21 lances is a bit beyond moderation for that weapon.
