yup its not really efficient with DE shooting unit indeed. But i'm not sure PFP is better (for our shooting unit)

That's why I was advocating the move-shoot-move approach for these units. It comes with its own risks, of course, but I've found it to be very useful. Btw. Tau players will hate you for being able to do that Razz

Well the problem is that the target have to be at 7" from you to activate Ynnaries ability. And if you are that close no real need of more movement

It can work similar to the example I gave with the reavers:

Move the unit within 7" of the enemy unit (which also gives you rapid fire bonus!), kill the unit and use the soulburst to get back out of reach and/or into cover. On the way back you don't care for the advance malus either, because you are not going to shoot or charge in this turn anyway.

I've had some success with Reavers accompanied by Farseer Windrunners, backed up by knots of Windriders.

Windriders and Farseer Windriders are basically the reason people hate Ynnari lol.

Honestly Shiny Spears IMO are leaps and bounds better now (tho they are costly)

Better than they used to be, certainly.

They're FA, though, I believe.  Do you think they're better point-for-point than other Fast Attack options available to Ynnari?

So what if they are FA lol... Just take an Outrider slot or 2 if you need to...

And i'd say they are worth it for sure.

-4ap 2d melee and shoot, 6 to advance always, 3+/4++(against shooting) 2 wounds with 1 3w guy that can have a S8 weapon over S6 (for only 3pts more)

What I mean is, aren't there better FA choices for Ynnari than Shining Spears?

There aren't many better troop choices than Scatpacks.

Scatpacks?

But we can have 18 FS slots.... so its not like we are too limited is what i'm saying.

Huh. Since they became available universally in the squad, I've not only never seen a shuriken windrider pack, I've never even heard of anyone running them that way. The range would seem to make scatterbikes far superior.

I think he means taking the shuriken cannon as it's an assualt weapon and doesn't suffer the minus to ballistic skill the scatter lasers now do. Plus, the bladestorm effect on shuriken weapons isn't bad.

Yes Shuriken Cannons.

Also, reason NOT to Ynnari is Wych Cult armies, PfP helps them A LOT.

Well PfP is better than the Ynnari rule for all our CC unit i would say. The rerol on charge and +1 to hit are really strong

I do.

The scatbike performs the exact same function as it did in 7th, it drowns the opponent in shots. You use it as a stationary weapon battery that can get out of harm's way quickly if it needs to while still shooting competently. An Autarch near them allows them to reroll 1s to hit, a Warlock with Conceal gives the opponent a -1 to hit, and a Farseer with Doom turns them into murder machines. The 36" range on the guns means they can pepper just about anything that gets too close before it can hurt them. With a Razorwing Flock screen they are extremely difficult to dig out and if placed in cover they even get their 3+ save.

The ENTIRE point of scatbikes in 7th was range, obsec, and jump-shoot-jump. This allowed them to be played dangerously and still get out of harms way. Now they only have range. If you take the Shuriken Cannon, what do you have? Not range, it's only 24". Not weight of dice. Not jump-shoot-jump, your butt is still within range of plasma guns at 24" away. What you have is a dead unit of bikes that might proc a -3AP maybe, if they're lucky. I bring scatbikes every game I run Eldar and I have never had them not perform.

Which brings me to the Ynnari. Ynnari is good for using double-shooting on scatbikes with Yvraine, boosting for turn 1 charge with Yvraine, and keeping Razorwing Flocks protected by the Yncarne. Everything else is just varying levels of "meh". You can get those nice chain reactions but doing so usually requires you to be uncomfortably close to the enemy and considering our bikes suck at any kind of close distance and our infantry die to a stiff breeze, you're just throwing models away to have them that close without an enormous meatshield.
