Wait... wait hold on. Can buildings swing in close combat? All they said is they usually can't move.

You know those big golden statues of the emperor?
You can put two marines inside and use it like a Jaeger from pacific rim.

All you have to do is cover a statue in ectoplasm, and get an Imperial City to cheer for the Emperor. Then it'll come to life......

Alternatively, I would imagine buildings not having any Attacks.

Nah, buildings will get one attack against every attacker, at the same strength as the attacker.  Hey, those idiots could have forgot their climbing gear and keep falling off the walls.

Or Electrified walls

Tar poured down the ides to make them slip and burn easier.

Or Traps on the sides

Or loose stones/plates

Or a Hidden boxers glove that periodically pops out and hits the attackers in the face or.....

All I want is for Drukhari to have some serious stratagems for taking down Strongholds, but I suspect that unless a Strongholds supplement book is released, that will not be the case.  If it does, then I would imagine there would be defensive stratagems for every faction too, and in that case, would Dark Eldar get their own Strongholds?  What would that look like?  My fluff-gut tells me no Dark Eldar would ever make or even steal a Stronghold in Realspace.  If such a supplement is released I would actually want Dark Eldar to simply never be able to be Stronghold defenders.  It would be murder on the fluff, in my opinion.  The only defensive Stratagem I could think of for Dark Eldar would be that the entire Mon'Keigh fortress is booby-trapped to the 9's.  And they are they are absolutely horrifying booby traps that force Morale tests to affected units in addition to dealing mortal wounds.

The only feasible scenario where DE would be defending a fortress or piece of territory would be if the battle was occurring in the Dark City itself. Which is in itself a bit unfluffy in itself.

@TheBaconPope I mostly agree, although I could see it being the case that an army arrives unexpectedly as the Drukhari are pillaging the fortress.

Even Dark a Eldar have got to feed their armies and re supply ammo - so surely a Realspace any longer than a couple of days would need some kind of logistics dispersement. What if some crazy archon took a captured imperial fortress and put a webway portal in the middle to get food to his peeps?

But yeah I agree it's way more apt to be the attacker.

Maybe take a fortification to lure the enemy's main forces to a location while the Archon's forces engage the real objective?

I played in a warhammer dark heresy rpg once. We faced many ennemies: chaos, orcs, tyranids... But there was one ennemy that we feared. 1 ennemy that layed wasted in our party. One ennemy we could never face: THAT DAMNED WALL WE ALWAYS FAILED TO CLIMB and ended up with a broken leg, neck, rib..... Those walls killed more party members that all other threats.

So, I don't have any problems with a building having CC value.

You just had me remembering all the times in Total War Shogun 2 I watched my men fall while scaling the walls.

Strategem to detonate captured buildings. Or a strategem that lets us redeploy from captured ones, representing hidden tunnels in commoragh (which pretty sure is gone fluff wise) or webwaying in and out of safe areas

Why is commoragh gone?
From what I understand the lower levels were flooded with demons who were then beaten back by the combined efforts of mandrakes and dark eldar (so in a worse case scenario there might be some more demons running arround or it could be part of the shadow realm now). But the upper spires and any part of commoragh not close to the portal should have survived without to much change.

DE used to always be the attackers back in the day - in missions that is - and I would hope that its part of the narrative play again at least!

Yeah that's what I am talking about! Sometimes fewer options is better. If players want to jazz things up and have Dark Eldar be the defenders they can always make something up.

No way! Space Marines are superior and must be the attackers, even against us!
