They have m8 - it`s not that much faster. Yeah, they also can charge with aditional 3 inches.
But seriosly - obliterators got 3!! wounds and move only 4. Almost everything they show us till this moment have Movement of 6 or greater. So it`s realy not that faster than it was. I expected 10, to be honest

And overwatch now work againts banshees. So... It doesn`t seems like a buff

Well, +2" movement and then an additional +3" whenever they Advance or Charge. And if they've got assault weapons, then the Eldar Battle Focus means they can fire them after Advancing without the -1 penalty.

Plus they're fast enough to always go first in every combat.

they hit first in combat even if they were charged. Depending on their point cost i prefer not to play them.

As i sayd before - they was lame, they stay lame Crying or Very sad

Yeah, move 8 plus charge of 2d6+3 is a cavalry threat range - pretty solid, especially factoring the reduced distances between deployments

They became faster, i agree. But not that much faster. And their survival is under question now, cuz you have no way to safely deploy they into combat. And overwatch with little luck will tear them to pieces.

That`s sad. I always liked banshees and scorpions. They don`t seems to be better now. Only mandiblasters seems like buff.

Well, assuming that you Advance or Charge every turn, they're a mere 1" slower than a Jump Pack. Doesn't seem bad for an infantry unit.

Was there a way to do that in 7th?

How do you think Wyches feel? Razz

Anyway, all I'll say is that I'd absolutely love it if DE melee units had a threat range of 8"+2d6"+3" and, more importantly, always struck first in combat even if they didn't get the charge.

Given that we can basically be charged at any time by stuff like Helldrakes, I really wish we had some sort of rule that would represent our speed in combat. Something that would represent our initiative, if you will. Rolling Eyes

I think this assessment is spot-on. Though I'd give even less weight to that 6+ save.

On an entirely different note, I'm curious to see what happens to the Archon's Shadowfield. If it's still lost when the model takes a wound, then even a single Mortal Wound will cripple him for the rest of the game without ever allowing him his save.

I think the backline in giving only 6+ against wounds, is that you can save even ?mortal wounds?

I just hope that the +1 to hit does not mean half our units will normally hit on a 4+.
Hitting on a 2+ is awesome, hitting on a 4+ not so much...

Agree 6+ is not great even if it can save those mortal wounds.
Still better then nothing.

Bit torn on the 6+ FNP. On the one hand it's strictly worse than the 5+ we previously had against the majority of incoming damage. On the other hand we get it against anything and there's no ID mechanic as far as we've seen so it may end up being reasonable given the prevalence of S6+ attacks in the game that would previously have negated our FNP entirely.

Banshees move 8" plus 3" when advancing or assaulting. This is 11" in practice.

Edit: power from pain is great now. Obviously cumulative, plz guys, but be negative if you want to. Leaked mission rules reveal that missions can last longer than 5 turns, and the T4&5 bonus from power from pain will help our units to stay alive in the most important turns while giving an edge against the enemy in the morale phase. Remember we can get more -Ld utilities (and/or weapons).
I'm happy that survivability (6+fnp) and offensive bonus come first in that list.

A quick run through with the leaked tau numbers (assuming every item needs to be purchased) against a 1750 list I faced at my last event gave me a points value of 1797 - however... the list also had a 188 point barracuda from forgeworld which is not part of that total - I would expect that to be 200-220 points based on the info we have thus far...

This means a 1750 list becomes a 2100ish list

In fact, 3 out of 6.

Yeah, if you have to buy everything then I'd expect games to go to much higher point values than the current norm.

The new power from pain chart looks amazing, especially if there is a way to get a +1 out of it (which I'm sure there will be)

+1 to hit in melee might be very scary, especially on characters. we'll have to see if Grots and Talos get a 4+ or 3+ to hit in CC. I'm wondering if that'll affect charge hits from reavers and hellions too.

Big shoutout to Razorfate for those leaks. Those are Prime.

116 for a Raider with DL and Shock Prow (95 for basic Raider). They weren't kidding about vehicles being more expensive!

Yeah, I just clocked that one. What the hell do they do now?

Some other costs:

Archon - 54
Warrior - 7
Trueborn - 11
Voidraven - 169
Raider - 95

Well, it is a character, so it will probably have multiple wounds, hits on a 2+ with PfP and wounds on a 2+.
If that's the case it may be worth the points.

Probably more along the lines of "That will stop those bloody DE players taking one as their sole HQ!"

32 points is still pretty cheap for a HQ "tax" if one is required
