I think GW wants Aeldari players to focus on and the wide variety shenanigans that Ynnari faction could use.

All that out of turn shooting and charging and the fact that the Ynncarne can basically move anywhere a units get destroyed.

The imperium forces are sledgehammers while the Ynnari forces are exceptional trickery.

Ultramarine detachment also lets them shoot out of phase.

On the upside, Girlyman is an exceptionally ugly model so unless people start bringing his shiny Forgeworld incarnation then we'll win via sheer style alone.

According to 1d4chan he's an absolutely pitiful amount of points. But not an Independent character though, so he's soloing it, for what little downside that gives him with those stats.

Oh well. Avatar of Khaine is suddenly looking very appealing...

http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2017/03/rise-of-the-primarch-new-ultramarines-rules.html

Halfway down the page. It's caused by a banner that can be taken for 60pts. So I suppose I was mistaken. It's likely that ability will be present in traditional Gladius' as well.

Wow...another space marine-specific detachment that gets Obsec on top of the other detachment abilities...WTF?!?!

Why are space marines the only ones who get obsec? This is ridiculous.

Stay away from him, kill the things he's buffing, and laugh hysterically the one time you throw fog of dreams on him when he's about to get into his first combat all game.

I feel his lack of IC status to hide in units keeps him within the realm of not stupidly broken. That is of course if you're willing to bring D-cannon wraithguard. Plop them down via wwp and fire away. Considering your opponent will most likely keep a number of units within 12 of him it shouldn't be too hard to get a soulburst off for a second round of shooting. I hate to advocate the D but it does have legitimate uses in the game, this being one of them.

Of course that is if you're not playing in the ITC that (somehow) manages to favor marines even more than GW does. If you do, ummm... skathach??

This is not Commorite tactics in full, but group of 10 wraith guards with d-cannon with spiritseer and archon with wwp portal in could 'do him in' one go. (unnerffed D-cannons)

Reroll to hit '1's, hitting 7/10 times if spirit seer is in 12" of Guilliman
To D(estroy): 1's do nothing, 5/6 chance to do damage, expentancy of one six is quite high. Also possibility to arrange soul burst for this unit is there.
Even with ITC D-table nerf ~6 hits, 2 goes through, no FNP would be about 4 wounds removed per shooting. Maybe 8 with double tapping. There is a big risk of variation here...

unit would cost bit under 500 points, would in all probability trigger soul burst to remove another unit from the table.

D-scythes could do collateral damage, but would have even harder time to get near Guilliman and no chance of sixing him out not to mention getting all the guns to actually hit the model.

That is assuming he doesn't come back from the dead with his 50% chance of respawning.

And you're throwing a 500 point unit down next to him that he is going to chew up in melee if you don't kill him in 1 turn. It ITC formats, it's basically guaranteed that you lose that unit. With un-nerfed D weapons outside the ITC, that only happens if you roll a bit below average.

In either case, it's not something people can legitimately put into a TAC tournament list just on the off chance they're going to face Guilliman.

We need to come up with a solution that can comfortably fit into a list that will perform well in the event that it ISN'T against Girly-man. Very Happy

Well to be fair the only time I didn't feel I had need ofor 10 D shots in the middle of my opponents army is when everything was already going so my way that there were no good targets. This is only more true when the unit can possibly shoot twice.

Any list with a deathstar or SH is going to justify the wraithguard. Though I advocate two 5 man units myself. Delivery being the issue then.

One could take two groups without spiritseer if there are psykers to deliver guide on them. Two Archons and two 5 men groups are about the same price point. More kudos for you if you take blaster for archon and make the last wound with that.

Think succubus are cheaper. Double points if you position them so you have to take saves on the archon after 2-3 lost guard as you can then fire the remaining 2-3 in your opponents turn possibly even triggering the second unit to soulburst and shoot as well.

When you factor how effective your Spiritseer is going to be, remember he can re-roll Deny the Witch rolls because he's just that determined. So determined.

Yeah.... He's a little broken... He might even be able to solo-slaughter a corpsethief formation

Now THERE is something that might actually be able to take him down. That's quite a few fleshabane AP2 attacks for only ~twice as many points.

Nevermind like barely 2 wounds after his invuln and fnp and you're losing between 1 and 2 Talos a turn before you swing and more or less another one for every 6 to hit rolled.

I don't think he's THAT scary. I'll just lock him down in cc with something expendable early on, and let the rest of the army take out the other nasties. When the sacrificial lambs are dead, I'll pump his ugly, chiseled jaw full of poison and dizzie shots until he is ready for harvesting.

That might work if you can find something that is Fearless and on a large-ish base. He gets to attack everything within 1" of him. If you're on a large base you can position your models so that they block each other off from being in base contact with Girlyman. He can kill pretty much anything within 1" of him but then you pile in and attack back. With a sufficiently large unit (or several smaller units) that could be done for a couple of turns.

A scalpel squadron should do the trick.

Khymaerae with a Mask of Secrets Death Jester (from a Heroes Path) loitering around nearby for Fearless?

You could probably have multiple small units of Khymaerae (say 3 apiece or something) assaulting him so whenever he wipes out 3 of them you get an extra shooting phase with your Death Jester, which can then pull or push units closer to your other units to trigger more soulbursts.

Massively situational, but would be fun Wink
