Hi again.

Yes,i Like this section.

Seemingly this isn't openly discussed previously, not recently at least

reavers

The purpose of a 9 man squad?

Feel pretty comfortable in my usual cad\rsr\grots list with a 5\6 units of 3 spam.
Yet i'm curious about 9 man,just because it looks funny, but couldn't assign them a role aside being a point sink less effective big unit...any hint?

I've used them a couple of times with max caltrops and an allied Autarch (Banshee Mask, Shard of Anaris, Laser Lance). They're a pretty awesome assault unit but, and it's a big but, they die very, very easily. Too easily for the amount of points spent on them. Anything that ignores cover (ie, pretty much every top army) will wipe them out without breaking a sweat. I pretty quickly reverted to MSU.

If you join them with a resilient IC (Cloud Dancer Corsair Prince wild psyker survivor of endless darkness with shadowfield, for example) I could see them working as an spearhead unit. On their own I dont see them being worth it. Im a fan of small 3 man units.

You could try reserves. Fresh unit that arrives with kicked in FnP. But it will weaken your first wave. And first wave must be killy. Maybe worth it.

Can't figure out. Being accused by a rhino\razorback spam player, with 2 units of wulfen with wofl lord and those 25 points priest with zealot and tl saves to the team...

...that going lhamen in venom it's cheese.


Anyway, tried out some configuration. SImply no. Reserves more then else, no (to me).

You have to criplle them badly not to get swept but any full force attack. Such a big unit in reserves, that when comes down can't tie anything...nah. Won't try it i guess

I didn't. Went on for a whole hour trying to convince me i was min\maxing and didn't have regards for "the fluff"....would love to see where deathwatch,wulfen,micro priests and a car park did meet before coming to the field

I guess i'll have to participate less in the emotional thing cause adhemar is starting too many of my posts.

Anyway. Still thinking,and still not convinced about the 9 man, since they're a melee-machines stopper, at least in my meta, with the occasional rhino popped.


Still hate those wulfen. Illegal unit with the 25 points weirdo

I love 6 man squads with a champ and an agonizer. The 2D6 helps even out the HoW caltrops and the agonizer helps you to tangle with squads in CC and not just lose horribly in combat and be swept.

Couldnt agree more, it works so well. How do you run the archite usually? 2h for the ap or 1h for the extra attack. I havent been facing a lot of TEQs so I have just been using the 1h.

I almost always wind up using two-handed mode. Only time I can ever recall using 1h mode was on a single occasion. (She had +1S from drugs and +1S from Furious Charge, and was charging GEQ models.)

My view on the large Reaver squads is the main reason to use them is if you are running out of Fast Attack slots - e.g. 2 Scourges in a CAD. Larger squads are generally used when you want to maximise the use of a character, which for us would mean an allied character as Count Adhemar was describing.

Always* use the 2H mode for the Succubus.
* Unless the roll to wound is already a 2+ as Jimsolo described above, or already a 6+ such as against a Carnifex.
