How do people feel about CSM's Emperors Children getting combat drugs among their other crazy rules updates? How will this look/ effect the DE when facing them?

I am also fearing playing the new Death Guard with their updated rules. Thoughts?

Kind of fits for Emperors Children, they are the Slaaneshi Legion after all. There rules aren't that crazy, pretty much all of the Traitor Legions got a good update but are still handicapped by the ball and chain that is the Chaos Space Marine codex so most of them are still horribly expensive for what they do.

Also with all the poison we have, I couldn't care less how tough Death Guard are, I'm still wounding them on a 4+.

Emperor's Children getting combat drugs makes so much sense I'm willing to bet the original codex writer had nothing to do with it and probably fought against adding it to the supplement.

I agree it makes sense. Curious as to how the points will work out vs our units with combat drugs. Curious about points balance.

Also I skirmished a Death Guard player and although they're difficult their bonuses aren't too much to be concerned about for DE specifically.

What I saw they are identical to our Combat Drugs. So, that's hardly a reason to envy them. However, there was also a piece of unique wargear that allows to take D3 rolls on the Combat Drug table.

They are not. They have ballistic skill instead of leadership. Ours is WS, S, T, A, I, LD. There's is WS, BS, S, T, A, I. Something somethign CC units don't need +BS but given that every unit with combat drugs is more of a skirmish unit then an out-and-out CC unit that doesn't really hold water.

I could see the D3 rolls on the Combat Drug table being really powerful.

depending on the points, if you're paying 30 something points for +1 attack, +1 toughness and +1 strength on every model that can get combat drugs you're absolutely getting your points back and then some.

Vect needs to work on the socioeconomic power of Commorragh and start importing and exporting drugs on a galactic scale.

Can't say it's not disappointing that we didn't get it first, but as others have said, it is, strictly speaking, fluffy. On the upshot from Mr. Positive, i.e. Me, this could be a sign of changes to come for a potential new True Kin release to bring us up to speed.

On the downside, this new Ynnead book makes that release look incredibly unlikely.

What do you mean "Didn't get it first"? We've had Combat Drugs since 5th ed.

The annoyance is that the CD table is more useful to the Emperors Children than ours is to Wyches, but I think that has more to do with the base stats of a Space Marine compared to a Wych. That said, +1I is still useless because EC are I5 anyway. +1BS is particularly strong given the +1S to all sonic weapons they have in the Kakophoni formation.

Woops, lol, should have been more specific. I meant an updated drug table.

It's been the secret desire of my heart ever since we lost the Duke.

I'd settle for the Corsairs drugs.

Corsairs removed one of the options (Leadership I think) and replaced it with "roll again on the table with 2 dice, picking your preferred result". Basically got rid of one of the bad options and replaced it with something better.

Its apply both without penalty.  You can't keep doing it, but there is no penalty for receiving 2 drugs.  Ugh, I hate to admit it but the Corsair dex is what the Dark Eldar codex should have been in so many ways.  Fluffy, fun, competitive.  Acutally I just described what every codex should be.  I mean these pirates get Shadowfields for 15 points cheaper and they're the exact same piece of wargear.  But wait it gets better you can slap a field on pretty much any Corsair character, including their fluffy af psykers.

The Corsair dex definitely influenced my fandex I am not going to try and pretend otherwise. From the Mandrake psychic discipline to the availability of specialist equipment.

Yeah I absolutely love the Corsair 'dex.

Actually, a ton of the newer armies have really hit the nail on the head with the whole 'fluffy, fun, competitive' aspect.

Skitarii tin-men footslogging across the battlefield before lighting people up with weird techno-guns, GS Cults blending into the shadows before reappearing somewhere else and hacking you apart with rending claws, Corsairs zipping about the battlefield with jetpacks peppering you with pistol fire, Harlequins dancing across the battlefield protected by psychic shenanigans and freaky Ld effects.

All of them are really distinct, solidly put together and not stupidly overpowered.

I wonder whether a lot to do with that is the fact that they're pretty small armies, with a limited selection of units each with a handful of weapon options.

Which version of the Corsair's dex are you guys referring to?

The current one, obviously. Why would anyone refer to the obsolete 5th ed version?

I really like my Corsairs but I'm getting tired of the whole "this is how DE should be" rubbish some people are pushing. There play style is much closer to Craftworld Eldar especially since, once again, bikes are the best unit in the codex and they are just as shooty as the Windriders.

This.

I would also argue that in many cases Corsairs are just as OP cost-efficient as Craftworlders.

While I do agree that Corsairs aren't necessarily 'Dark Eldar done right', they are closer to what they should be (i.e. competitive), and closer to what the Craftworld Eldar should be (i.e. slightly less competitive).

Dark Eldar need more CC options than Corsairs, and fewer hyper-mobile infantry units. Saying that, Dark Eldar do need some more movement options/JSJ tomfoolery which I think is what people mean when they compare Corsairs to Dark Eldar.

I ask because I'm not sure if the version I have is the most recent. The foreworld books aren't named very clearly and don't list what edition of 40k they are for, as far as I can tell.

Hrm...it sucks you can't tag people who have a space in their name.
