Hi all,

New player here. I'm building out my first list, I've had a couple specific questions come up, and figured while I'm at it I may as well get the list looked over!

The idea behind the list is to be competitive enough to not get absolutely stomped in casual games, and be able to take on all comers. I don't want to be that guy that tailors a list for each pickup game I play once I see what the other guy has.

Here we go!

10x Kabalite Warriors, 1 w/ Splinter Cannon
in a Raider w/ Disintegrator Cannon and Splinter Racks

5x Kabalite Warriors, 1 w/ Blaster
in a Venom w/ Splinter Cannon

5x Kabalite Warriors, 1 w/ Blaster
in a Venom w/ Splinter Cannon

4x Kabalite Warriors, 1x Sybarite w/ Haywire Grenades
in a Venom w/ Splinter Cannon

Fast Attack
5x Scourges, 4 w/ Heat Lances


That's a total of 720 points.

First question - the final 30 points. It seems to me I have a couple options - I can add to the Court HQ, either 3 Lhameans, 2 Ur-Ghouls, or one of either Medusae or Sslyth, for a nice HQ Distraction. I could also put in a Beastmaster squad and do any combinations of the beast packs or Beastmasters themselves. Footslog them, make them a nice threatening distraction. I'm leaning toward the Beastmaster route - seems to me I can get more offensive power for a more tempting target, and also not give away a warlord kill. Thoughts on the two, and which combination of beast pack and/or beastmasters to run?

Second question - For my 3 units of warriors in venoms. The 5 warriors with blaster and 4 warriors with one sybarite with haywire grenades are the same price. What are your thoughts on having one venom as a fairly dedicated anti-armor? Are the Haywire grenades enough of an anti-armor gain to lose the flexibility of the Blaster?

Third - Are there any glaring holes in the list? It looked a little weak on the anti-armor front if the Scourges go down, which is why I looked into the Sybarite w/ Haywire Grenades option.

You could change the Scourge to run Haywire Blasters for added range. The last 30 points could go into 2 more Sybarites with Haywire grenades. Maybe drop the Splinter Cannon from the 10 Warriors and add a 3rd Blaster to the 5 man unit that doesn't have it.

So you have the 3 Venoms and the Raider gunboat threatening infantry/monsters and the Scourge and Warriors attacking armour like Walkers, Tanks etc

Not a bad idea with the Scourges. Heat Lances seemed to be the go-to for a "come all" type of setup. The reasons I wanted an additional/bigger unit for the last 30 points are 1. more targets for the enemy to have to choose to shoot at or ignore, and 2. More cool stuff to paint. If I were to just beef up the units existing in the 720 point list, I'd kind of be gimping myself.

I would move the Sybarite to the Gunboat Raider to maximize his added leadership, if you want to keep him. I would also drop his Haywire Grenades and the Gunboat's Splinter Cannon. I would add two Blasters, one to the Venom and the other to the Raider. I would then probably give the Raider Night Shields to help maximize survivability, Jink or no Jink. I would probably choose Haywire Blasters also.

For extra cool modeling/painting, I would model Warriors with Splinter Cannon standing on Venom (magnatize for Weapon Destroyed), perhaps blowing apart a Gene Stealer or something.

Anti Tank/Super Heavy Infantry:
4 Blasters on 4 Platforms (Short Range)
1 Disintegrater on 1 Platform (Long Range)
4 Haywire Blasters (Medium Range-->Movement Profile)

Anti Infantry:
8 Splinter Cannons on 4 Platforms (Long Range)
1 Disintegrater on 1 Platform (Long Range)
1 Raider Gunboat Platform (Short Range)
