Didn't the image first surface on the 40k page though? I figured that was where we drew the link.

Well having talked to my local Games workshop store owner recently he let slip that the dark eldar would be getting a lord of war choice that is basically a huge Talos pain engine ... So this could be a cloak draped on that if it is supposed to be on a larger base

I wouldn't complain if we got a huge Talos pain engine as long as it was points efficient. Unlike say, a certain assault elites choice with bras. Rolling Eyes

Why does everyone want a HUGE Pain Engine of some sort. I don't think that fits the Dark Eldar Theme. Fast, Hit N Run tactics. I really don't want the monstrous creatures, yes I want something to deal with them.

Yeah, that's how I would do it if I ran the zoo, but it'd be nice to have an answer to Wraithknights besides "more Splinter fire than it's worth. "

The Harlequins getting a new model would be pretty cool. Would prefer it be DEldar though, but its still something

I first thought that thing looked like a snowplow because we get new models if hell freezes over.
New(?) rumours is that it is Vect!!!!

It makes ZERO sense at all - that rumour is as dodgy as it comes. Nothing of it matches the end of the cadia book at all.

Its more likely to be Malys (the regal female directing the DE warriors) than vect.

The warrior is red is described as not conforming to anything DE or CWE by the mechanicus. Given the base for the grynix in the painting video - I assume this an exodite mounted warrior.

The third might be eldrad but given his release in death masque - I would expect Vielwalker to be the 3rd.

I got as far as Natfka with that rumour and ignored it.

I expect the Gyrinx to be with Sylendri Veilwalker, they are supposed to be a psychic pet so it makes a lot of sense for it to come with her more than the others.

Eldrad seems like a foregone conclusion, he's only available in Death Masque, which is no longer produced (if it's in any stores thats old stock), so that model finally getting a general release seems about right.

The "female in an elegant gown, directing procedings" screams Lady Malys to me as well, but others have suggested Iyanna Arienal (sp?). Spirit/Farseers tend to wear robes more than gowns so unless Iyanna's decided to dress up for the occaision it's not her (or GW's gone completely off the wall with a change of look, not sure that Jes Goodwin would do that though).

The red armoured guy is a complete mystery though. Prince Yriel is my prefered bet, being one of the very few Eldar to have direct links to all 4 of the main Eldar factions means his involvment makes sense, however that smoky picture didn't look like he was carrying a spear wich certainly counts against that option. I really don't think it's going to be an Exodite, I just can't see the space Amish getting involved. Ahra has been mentioned, but I really hope thats not Ahra, I much prefer the idea that Ahra=Drazhar and that red armour looks nothing like an Incubus Warsuit. Archon Sythrac is also an option, persoanlly I find it the least interesting but not a bad choice, though if the rumours regarding Sythrac are true it kind of counts against the gowned woman being Malys.

I wonder why people think there will only be 3 models in this set though, there were 5 in the Imperial "Triumvirate".

One rumour I heard was that Vect was one of the Triumvirate and that he had two Incubi-like bodyguards. Massive amounts of NaCl required though.

Another option would be that the Gyrinx counts as one of the five, in the same vein as the GSC Broodcoven box (another triumvirate?) included 2 genestealer familiars.

Yeah, a lot of the speculation and wishlisting seems to ignore that there are specific colors for things. Incubi have always been black and white. Vect and Malys will be in the colors of their respective Kabals. It's like people seeing a green Marine and declaring it must be a Blood Angels character, and it makes me wonder what their armies look like.

Actually, let's talk a moment about how the guy in red does not look at all like an Incubi.

Similarities:

-Two vanes protruding from the back
-Segmented, Eldar-style armor

Differences:

-Incubi helmets have horns
-Incubi shoulder plates taper to point, unlike Red's big pauldron thing
-Incubi do not have fabric or sashes around their waists in the style of Craftworlders or Harlequins
-the layered segments of Incubi body plating are curved and come to points, with a distinct breastplate; Red's are straight and laid out in a woven pattern, with no distinct breastplate
-Incubi carry very large, signature glaive-style weapons
-Incubi aren't red

I mean, yes, it certainly possible that GW are changing what Incubi look like, or are releasing special, different-looking, red Incubi, in which case, yes, it is possible that this is an Incubi. It is also possible, by the same logic, that it is a Mandrake.

Correction - albeit a small one and well meant:
Klaives are not glaive-style weapons. Glaive is a polearm. These swords do not conform to any real weapon type I know. Its a very long butcher's cutter with an extra handhold. They do remind me of Klingon Bat'leth though. :-)

Just for those interested in such things - given my 15 years of experience in swordfighting I can tell you that such a blade would be extremely difficult to handle especially among the high powered and high impact weapons of 40K. :-D Blocking a blow of any heavy weapon would be nigh impossible due to the handholds being very off the centre of gravity axis. But... they could be devastating in offensive power. EDIT: If they were even more curved backwards, it would actually be doable with the lower grip providing balance to the block and the high grip the support.

I appreciate that. And yeah, they remind me Bat'leth too.

The Punishers carried by the original Incubi were glaives, and the weapons carried by modern Incubi have names that sound like glaives, and... You're right. I have no excuse.

They're still really big, signature, and absent from Red.

I would like to note that Incubi can definitely be red. Vect didn't pass a law color coordinating all Dark Eldar lol

Oh you are right. Pardon my inexperienced head. The original incubi weapons were glaives!

And I agree with what you said before.
May I remind once more of this drawing of Vect... Wasnt it in 5E codex?

That is a deviant art picture. I love it. It was my phone background but it wasn't in a codex.
