So reading these forums, everyone seems to generally agree that grotesques are one of the best close combat options our army offers. So I'd definitely like to stick 4 or 5 of them in a raider, however the models @Games Workshop are 25 bucks a pop! Have you guys found alternative models to use, or something to convert? I can't imagine spending $125 on a single unit.

I'm using Crypthorrors as base and use the extra masks from the Talos kit along with the weapons. They make a more diverse group.

Another options is ratogres for base with Talos bits.

Here's some inspiration from our Apothic Gallery on this site

I also used crypt horrors as combined with left over parts from the Talos kit. Only needed minimal green stuff on some of the arms and heads. Check my project log in my sig for photos.

Yup, Warhammer Crypt Horrors is what I've done too.

Oh, also using Crypt Horrors for my Clawed Fiends too

Hi! Indeed take a look at the Aphotic Gallery!
There you can also find my Grotesques made from Craftworld Wraithblades and mostly Coven bits.
They look a bit more Kabal- than Coven-ish, as they are my Archon's bodyguard, and i was too lazy to use green stuff xD

There's alot that you can use, some cheaper soe more expensive than the other.

Chaos Spawn kit works well too as do Hordes Blighted Ogrun Warspears. The Eye of Error made some very cool grotesques from the Warspears link here. They tie the wracks and grots nicely together.

I picked up crypt horrors super cheap on eBay. If you aren't in a hurry watch eBay for a while and see if you can pick up an old box of vargheists/horrors

I used hordes legion of everblight warspears with leftover from Talos kits like in the eye of error blog.
Even without green stuff they look wonderful.
