Well I've been refining my army list for a while now and think I've got it somewhere close to powerful and something that hopefully not everyone would be expecting...

HQ
Prince: Void Sabre, Jet Pack, BoP, Reaper of the Outer Dark, Rampage, Rage
2x Baron: Venom Blade, Shimmershield, Jet Pack, BoP, Rage
Autarch: Power Axe, Fusion Gun, Banshee Mask
Succubus: Archite Glaive, Armour of Misery, Haywire Grenades

Elites
4x Grotesques: Raider with Night Shields & Disintegrator Cannon
5x Malevolents

Troops
10x Reavers: Jet Packs, Rage, 4x Fusion Gun, Haywire Grenades, Sky Burners Cotorie
10x Reavers: Jet Packs, Rage, 4x Shredder, Haywire Grenades, Sky Burners Cotorie
5x Ghostwalkers: Jet Packs, Fusion Gun, Sky Burners Cotorie
10x Kabalite Warriors: Splinter Cannon, Raider with Night Shields, Splinter Racks and Disintegrator Cannon
3x Scatterbikes
3x Scatterbikes

Heavy Support
Fire Prism: Holo Fields
Fire Prism: Kinetic Shrouds

The Prince would go with the Malevolents, the Barons with the max Reaver squads to provide a 5++ and help with leadership, the Succubus and Autarch with the Grots.

I tried to make a list that was both fast and hard-hitting, with as much staying power as I could get. It's a bit light on bodies though...

Are there any glaring omissions that I've overlooked?

Also, is it worth trying to squeeze in a Farseer? If I drop the Malevolents and a Baron the Prince could go with a squad of Reavers and I could pick up a squad of 5 Rangers to camp out by the Fire Prisms casting Guide and Prescience. If I strip a couple of other things (like the Splinter Cannon from the Kabalites, or swap them for a Venom squad) I could give the Farseer an Uldanorethi Longrifle to join in the sniping...

Terrible idea or alright?

Hello Ynneadwraith. I just got back into playing so take anything I say with a grain of salt.

Ok first I am going to ask why 10 man squads of reaver bands. I would just go with 5 man squads and deep strike in about 4 inches from target with sky burner then use reckless abandon to get out after using 2 fusion guns and a haywaire to light someone up. Next squad I would ask why shredders, do not like them myself.

The ghost walkers what is your thoughts with them?

I would not use nightshields on a grotes raider. I run them up first turn to assault the 2nd turn. I get surprised if the raider lives to 3rd turn could save the points for something better.

I would say if you were going down to 5 man reaver squads, no ghosts and drop the night shields on the grotes raider you could make a grotesquery instead of 1 grotes squad.

Just my thoughts. Have fun and bring the pain to your enemies.

My idea behind the 10 man Reaver squads was to actually try and make the Baron useful by giving a shimmershield 5++ to a large squad. 5++ is still pretty squishy, but my list should at least make any low AP weaponry a waste of points. The tactics you've described are what I'd plan though (deep strike, nuke a vehicle, reckless abandon either away or within 8" of another vehicle and haywire that).

I'd also be slightly concerned with relying on 2 fusion guns to reliably nuke any heavy threats (although I haven't seen any mathammer to see how many you'd need at BS 4 for a given armour value. I might be able to get away with 3).

The shredders I sort of just wanted to try them out. Part of their issue I think is that they really don't mesh well with the Dark Eldar units that can get them. If Kabalites get within the 12" range, fire their single template and fail to annihilate what they're shooting at then chances are they're getting wiped out next turn. Scourges aren't much better.

However, with Reavers they've got the mobility to scarper after they fire and it gels with their Reckless Abandon range. They can also take 4 which increases the chances of actually hitting something. Plus, at S6 it gives them the ability to ID hordes of T3 models, reliably wound high toughness models with shred and threaten light vehicles. It's not a stunning weapon, but it does have a broad utility provided its short range doesn't get you murdered.

The Ghostwalkers was my idea for an irritation unit/objective campers. They either Infiltrate or Deep Strike to an objective in cover and hide out there with stealth, or Infiltrate and try and melta something turn 1. A cheap(ish) squad that the enemy can't ignore thanks to the fusion gun.

Interesting with the Night Shields on the Raider. I put them on there just to make sure that my grot ball actually makes it up the board, but if you can reliably do that turn 2 then I can probably find a better use for those points...

I liek the idea of adding a Grotesquerie in place of the single squad and Succubus. I'll see if I can scavenge some points from somewhere...

I have also been playing around with the idea of Ghostwalkers, but cant really find a way to effectively use them. At 85 points they have JSJ and their +1 cover save, and get to infiltrate+scout. To me this makes them want to get into CC, but without HAR I doubt they will make it worthwhile. You can always add in Barons, etc, but the cost...

I personally always take NS on my grot raiders. They ALWAYS get targetted first turn, and the NS seem to make the difference between 1 raider going down and 2 raiders going down. Its not like they will be shooting regardless.

Yeah what I like about the idea of Ghostwalkers (probably Reavers moreso thanks to their multiple special weapons) is that they bring a level of versatility that's rarely seen in Eldar units of any faction.

With Fusion Reavers and a Sky Burners Cotorie, if you want to suicide-nuke a tank from DS you can, if you want to pepper light infantry with S4 shooting you can, if you want to delete TEQ with Fusion and Bladestorm you can, if you want to wound an MC with poisoned shots you can, if you want to wipe out a unit that's not a combat specialist with your +2 attacks from CCWs and Rage you can. All of this in a package that has a 4+/5++ save with a Baron, can move 12" and JSJ and can shoot one unit and assault another on the same turn. I can't think of another Eldar unit bar a Fire Prism, Warp Hunter or D-Scythe Wraithguard that has such a broad range of potential victims. Certainly not in the troops slot at least...

Ghostwalkers let you do all of that too, but with the added option to Infiltrate, Scout, Outflank and cover camp as well.

Huh, spelling it out makes them sound pretty OP.

Oh, and my google-fu has completely failed me in finding out what 'HAR' stands for...

Ah that makes sense Smile

I take it it isn't having Jetpacks that confers Hit & Run. Haven't read the rules (and that would make Reavers pretty hardcore indeed).

Baron's don't confer hit and run. Honestly why I has there been so misinformation with regards to hit and run in the last few days? If you want to incorporate hit and run into your army by my ocunt we have 7.

Hellions
DE Reaver jetbikes
Swooping Hawks super leader dude
Shadowseer
Troupe
Death Jester
Skyweaver jetbikes.
(Also the Solitaire but can't be put into another unit).

That's it.

Hit and run is a precious commodity for non-white scars units in this edition. It is also one of only 2 reasons I'm considering fielding hellions to accompany a jetpack Prince and/or Void Dreamer.

As for the shredders:

Do not listen to anyone who tries to talk you into dropping them from a corsairs unit. I guarantee they have never tried it in this capacity as it is the most synergistic special weapon choice available.

Edit: in the future could you also please write your lists in a detachment focused style instead of the FOC focused style you used here? this is significantly harder to read and it tells us nothing about the top level special rules you baked into your specific army.
