Simple question -

Can an entire army, start off the board? obviously if it has the deepstrike special rule,
Or do you have to have atleast one model on the field turn one?

Example:

Army full of venoms, deep strike - zero models on the field

You lsoe the game if you have no models on the board at the end of your turn. So if you did this you would auto lose - unless you include a scalpel squadron who automatically arrive your first turn.

You CAN start the game with nothing on the boarsd, but if at the end of any game turn you have no models on the board, you automatically lose the game.
So a full Deep Strike army IS possible, IF you have units which will arrive in the first turn.
Nothing on the board at the end of turn one, and you lose the game.

SO your army of Venoms would work, so long as the only thing is them is Scalpel Squadrons.

It's actually only if you don't have any models on the board at the end of the GAME turn. If it was YOUR turn, you could start with a single minimum sized unit of infantry on the board and not worry about whether they die or not in the enemy turn. As it stands, you DO have to be concerned about what happens in the enemy turn if they go 2nd.

If you take a scalpel squadron, you can deep strike them automatically on turn 1, then on turn 2 deep strike everything else. This is great if you can somehow guarantee yourself going 2nd, as you can simply have nothing on the table in your opponent's turn 1, then put the scalpel squad on the table, then even if your opponent kills the scalpel squad in turn 2, the rest of your reserves can come on in your turn on turn 2, and have at least FnP 6+.

Its actually a shame we don't have better ways to more quickly push the game towards later stages, as that would slightly improve DE performance overall.

Good correction.
