are there sources for the polls? Smile

I either got the link to the poll on faeit212 or the GW facebook page. But here are the results of the poll:

Thanks, but the poll isn´t from GW, and it is not for some market research.
The poll is made by 2 players, they asked ~1000 players around the world.
It is a nice survey, but a global poll with 1000 players is not scientific accurate, neither does a speed poll of 4 days give you enough data.

There is tendency, yes, but we will never know if GW read it. We just presume because they are updating the FAQs atm.

But, it would be great if they read it^^

Either way, I expect that with the new direction GW seems to be going, that they have read it. If it was on their facebook page, they're the one who posted it, and if it was from faeit212, it's from the biggest, most well-known 40k rumour website on the internet.

Faeit may be the largest and well known, but their track record for truthfulness/correctness is atrocious.

I'm not 100% on the veracity of those statistics, but assuming they're 100% on target, I suspect that faeit has a massive disparity between their long-term speculations and their short-term then. Because I've watched it daily for a couple years now, and they're usually pretty spot-on as to what is coming up within the next 2-4 weeks.

The problem with Faeit/BoLS/Blood of Kittens and other such sites is that they just report what they're told and don't generally do even the most basic investigation into the truth of the rumours. It started to get to where you would see someone post something on one site "I heard GW were bringing out a new range of Squats". Someone would comment on that speculation on another site and then the first site would take that comment as confirmation of the rumour!

Fair enough. Faeit generally lists how reliable their source is with the rumours too, so there is that, as well. I'm sure rumours that they themselves note as somewhat unreliable are later used against them in their statistics as an "incorrect" rumour.

Either way, if you're a company the size of GW, you -should- have a PR person. That person's primary function is to keep their finger on the pulse of your customer base, and report problems that present themselves. In my opinion, that would include checking the major GW news websites daily to see what people are saying about the state of affairs with your company's products.

I'm not saying GW has one of these, but I couldn't imagine a multi-million dollar company that didn't. Then again, before I learned about GW, I'd never seen a company who'd built a business off of alienating their customer-base.

As far as the gargantuan goes - There is at least one in the fluff in the form of the "Tower of Flesh" of the thirteen scars coven.  It's basically a fortress... which can be animated and transported through the web way.  It's constructed from the fused and modified bodies of thousands of their enemies, and powered by diverted energy of the caged stars.  The Thirteen Scars use it against Fabius bile and destroy his stronghold, but during the battle it specifically duels with a "god-machine" (probably a knight or small titan) and wins.

Personally I'd like to see a knight equivalent gargantuan creature with a transport capacity that could deep strike via WWP, and if it died - became a fortification.

As far as the arch-nemesis things go: Salamanders are most definitely it.  Vulkan's origin story revolves around incursions onto his home world by eldar slavers (despite the fact that skimmers don't work reliably on Nocturne?  silent ).  They never specifically mention "dark eldar" but, outside of the inquisition - the imperium pretty much never does.  It's no coincidence Vect lures Salamanders in to the webway/dark city, as they are constantly hunting down predatory eldar.

If we do see a campaign book, it'll most likely feature the Salamanders battling the dark kin.  This actually really sucks for us as the salamanders favor flamers/heavy flamers and are in general a pretty hard counter to most of what we do.  The only thing worse than catching a flamer hit on your skimmer transport - is catching a flamer on your skimmer transport that can re-roll to wound and pen.  I doubt I have to mention charging them is often also a bad idea.

I honestly doubt that we'll ever see the injunction/khaine's gate story line progress, if only because I think they've painted themselves in to a corner on that one.  I don't see how they could bring any sort of resolution to it unless we enter some sort of "end times" phase of 40k.

Then again, if you listen to some space wolf players - we already have.

That's what 'rumour' means! For example, I've heard a rumour that a small child got lost at Warhammer World and has now gone feral, lives under the wargaming tables, and sometimes attacks and eats visitors in the toilets at Bugman's Bar. Is it true? I don't know, that's why it's a rumour. If I knew for certain that it was true, then it wouldn't be a rumour, it would be 'news'.

Actually I do know for certain and it isn't true, because I made it up, but you get the idea Smile

The statistic can't from Pretre's rumor tracking thread on Dakka. He's fairly reliable with his stats.

I've seen a whole lot of Faeit rumours amount to nothing. I generally don't give them much credence unless they come with screen shots.

The only Faeit 212 rumors I remember being entirely inaccurate (in the past year or so) were the updates to chaos marines and dark eldar.  In both cases they were (obviously) wishlists from someone on a forum, for armies that desperately need updates.

For the most part I find their rumors at least partially true, especially if they come from more established sources like sadpanda.  Even when the rumors are incomplete or partially inaccurate, I still like to have some idea of what's coming down the line.

Still waiting for that genestealer cult limo though tongue

Hey, 1/3 ain't bad. Put in context, that means we have a better chance of seeing a new book by the end of the year than we do of shooting down a flyer! Razz

I'd like a Lovecraftian horror turning up to horrify and eat a bunch of enemies before it moves along to the next dimension in its path Twisted Evil Really, it's just a supersized Dark Gate. I can see it's not everyone's cup of tea though.

It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it definitely would appeal to some of us. The Dark Gate was one of my favourite items in 5th. That S10 Large Blast resulted from one tentacle swatting the ground and pulling back into it's dimension anything that it caught, exactly once.

Imagine an entire Cthulhu-inspired monstrosity, coming onto the battlefield in all it's eldritch horror, playing whack'a'mole with Large Blasts, causing table-wide fear tests and stealing wounds from nearby models. There's so many ways to represent such a denizen of unknown, dark realms.

The Tower of Flesh, as @stilgar27 has reminded me of, also seems like a very interesting concept. I think it could be taller than a Knight, as it is described as taking on and beat a god machine which probably was a titan of some sort in it's own right. I think somewhere close to Warhound height is appropriate for the Tower, though the shape and architecture of the tower itself would probably be quite fluid and mobile, and may even change over time, subject to the whims of the Haemonculus. It would probably benefit from having an aggressive, low to the earth and menacing pose - not unlike that of the Heirophant Biotitan.

Of course, it would make be perfect for a Haemonculus to 'steer' it, and a big crew of Wracks to be stationed on top and/or within it - think of a Mumakil and it's crew, except more of a blend between the mechanical and the biological; perhaps parts of it's armour being half organic, and parts of its limbs enhanced by cogs and gauges and stim injectors.

To me, the concepts of either the Tower being on the tabletop or the Dark Gate's elder denizen come out to play, seem far more appealing than some enormous Grotesque.

Yes i read the .pdf.

But, i can´t find any official statements about that poll from GW. I find some Visitors-Posts on Facebook on the Warhammer 40.000 Page, one in which he asked to forward the poll to the CEO for example.

That said, yes it is still possible that they read it and that the FAQ-Draft is based on the Data from that poll, or it is a coincidence.

But iam not that sure about GW reading faeit212 ^^

I'm not sure either. But if they're not, it's roughly similar to a national political candidate in the United States not bothering to keep an eye on what Fox News is saying about them.

I like Faeit 212, I never think any rumors via Faeit, BOLS, or Dakka are true till I see picks, but it is nice to have a 2nd and 3rd place with different info for more or for less salt needed to add.

I thought it was just perspective, and it's a normal grotesque killing a crisis suit - the suit design is all wrong for it being a riptide, and they don't mount single fusion blasters on the arms.

The Fire Warriors could just reach up to that suit's knees. Then there's the Haemonculus, just about as far in the back. And the object floating right above the "grot"? That's supposed to be Talos!

This is artwork from our 5th edition codex, mind you. The Riptide didn't yet exist as a model back then (neither did the Talos in its current form), but obviously as an idea.

Or maybe the artist just decided to take a little artistic license with it. Besides, every grotesque is a unique creation of a haemonculus. They should basically ALL be a little different from the next, yet by the models they're all identical, in the same exact pose.

Gotta suspend your disbelief a little. Wink

It's twice the size of a crisis suit. It may not be a Riptide pattern suit, but it is clearly a battlesuit of Riptide proportions.

Body parts are the same of a Crisis, no other battlesuit have that design on the front.
Maybe it's a Commander (the model is bigger than Crisis and very similar) but no other Battlesuit for sure.

It is like, multiple stories tall. It might look like a Crisis suit in design, but it's size makes it clear it's something else, much like the "Grotesque" it's fighting.
