In a dark Artisan with the Haemonculus being the warlord: what weapons would you give him? Right now I'm considering the sump with the scissor hand. Problem is, I'm low on points. Could only squeeze 5 more points...

I generally try to keep him cheap as he's not particularly brilliant in combat even if you tool him up.

So you think adding a 4th Medusae is a better investment?

In general I'd say so, yes.

WWP so that the unit acts as the "Anvil" to your Grots "Hammer"

I don't have grotesques in my list.

Blaster Archon with WWP with three Medusae in a night shield Raider

5x
5x Kabalite Warrior in Venom with Blaster

2x
Razorwing with Lances

Dark Artisan with spirit probe WWP and heat Lance

And the sump and the scissor hand right now.

It's about 1500 points.

I tend to give a Haemonculus in a Dark Artisan unit a Hexrifle, just so he can try to do something whilst running around. I usually never use him as a Warlord though. I want that unit in the thick of things.

I usually give him the scissor hand or flesh gauntlet. I also like to give him the nightmare doll or panacea but you already said points are tight.

Mine usually has a Liquifier and a Scissor Hand.

For 5 points though, I'd say the most worthwhile investment is a Stinger Pistol. And I'm saying that only because the other option that costs 5 points would be the Mindphase Gauntlet.

The initiative mask (forget name) is nice, gives you a chance to kill the unit before the other character gets his attacks.

I have been using just scissor hands.  If you do make it your warlord you still synergize with the rest of the formation even if you arent using sumps or nightmare doll.

Although if you are wwp'ing the formation you dont really need to worry about the nightmare doll and warlord as you wont be marching across the middle of the table.

Sumps is nice but I dont take it with wwp. The way I look at it, is if the formation doesnt come second turn, by the time I get to use sumps half the game is over.

I like Scissorhand + Sump, once in a while Agonizer. The thing is the Haemonculus looks like a poor CC character, but WS/Initiative don't usually make a difference so long as they're >4, and Sump/Rampage usually mean he gets more attacks than either the Archon or Succubus.

No save is an issue and the only thing that keeps me from really wanting to tool him out.

Scissorhand definitely.

Depending on who he's going to be paired with, and what role you want him to play, any of the Diabolical Playthings except the Orbs are also viable picks.

Vexator mask to give the Talos and Cronos time to kill all the other models in the unit and start attacking the challengee.

scissorhand and vexator mask for me, and I don't heat lance my Talos. Just an ichor injector if anything. Typically I drop it with a wwp too-so the heat lance is unneccessary as I'm killing an infantry unit 75% of the time-or assaulting a vehicle on the following turn.

I actually like to give him a Nightmare Doll and Scissor Hands, Panacea Perverted only if I had 20 points left over. This allows him to tank most small shooting with his 3+ FNP and rerolling 1s. Look out sir the big stuff to the Talos.

I don't think he's allowed to reroll 1's, only the talos/cronos, but I could be mistaken.

Ok I need to go reread that. I was doing all FNP 1's within 6 of the Cronos.

Spirit probe gives all DE faction units within 6" + 1 to their FNP (but cannot improve it past 4+)

The nightmare doll gives the heamonculus +1 to his roll for FNP

Now IF you make him your warlord he automatically gets the trait: Master Artisan.  This trait then allows you to reroll 1's on any talos or cronos within 12".

So the heamy wont be able to reroll, however the doll takes the first instant death wound which is still nice and you get 4+ FNP (passing on 3 for the heamonculus) and rerolling 1's on just the cronos and talos.  Still a very powerful combination and remember to use the majority toughness of the unit and make sure your opponent rolls to wound correctly.

This is why some people like running a Corpse Thief Claw in close proximity to the Dark Artisan. It's expensive, disgustingly so, but you end up with 7 MC's, with 4+ FnPs, rerolling 1's. And if they have a toe in cover...

I played with 2 dark artisan formations last tournament (4 games)

The warlord Haemi never died. She got all alone once, but never died.

The second haemi died once, after her two engines got killed by grav-centurions with lots of luck, then she joined a 5 w/ Blaster kabalite warrior unit, assaulted the grav-centurions, killed them. (After some shooting had soften them up), happy moved into cover, got her new bodyguards shot to death, then soloed a scout squad, and then got shot to death by combi-melta-vets. (Fun fact, her unit survived a harlequin charge next game and drove them back.)

The only game I won was against Tau, got draw against necrons and lost against drop-Black Templars and Eldar.

The second in charge has Sindriqs sump ('Cause Rampage) and an agoniser. (And mandatory wwp)

The Warlord has Vexator mask, panacea, nightmare doll, scissorhand (She even killed the BT-warlord in a challenge) and mandatory WWP.

The warlord even got hit by a barrage of D-Cannons, totalling in 3 d3w and 1 d6+6w all centred on her. She LoS the d3w on her 2 engines, killing the talos and taking down the cronos to 1w while blocking out the d6+6w with her nightmare doll, and followed up with assaulting the 3 D-Cannons (and attached Farseer) and killing them all.

Isn't this an illegal setup, since we can only take 1 relic per character?

Per the covens book, characters replace the ability to take codex relics with supplement relics.

The main codex says "A model may take one of the following:" before listing the relics.

As far as RAW goes, Coven characters can have multiple relics. But I'm certain it's against RAI.

I don't think this is the case, as it specifically replaces your ability to take codex relics, and codex relics are clearly limited to 1.
