Hello Eveyyone

So  my friend and I don't have a lot time for full games in next 2 months so we decided to try kill Team Rules  meanwhile .

My opponent like  Dak Eldar, Chaos space marines, and really really loves Necrons.

My list.  199pts  out max 200pts.

! Acohyst (leader)  Wrack tool,  Hex Rifle.

4 Wracks   (1 Specialist Inflitrater, 1 Specilliast Melee Rending)

7 Kalabite Warriors.  1  upgrade to Blaster

3 Reavers  1 upgrade to carry a blaster   (specialist  NO cover save with shooting).

I  Wanted to use  Mandrakes  for my elite choice,   but i like  the idea of  the wracks  tearing into enemy models Cool

Anyhow Pls comment

Melee is notoriously bad in kill team, imo, because competent melee contenders tend to cost more than shooty ones, and no matter how many AP0 S11 attacks they have, they can never kill more than 1 model in melee per round.

As such, I'd probably take all the offensive and defensive ranged specializations you can, and plan to kite as best as possible with the shootiest units you have available.

Also, if fast attack are allowed, you should definitely take advantage of the killteam rules and take a unit of khymerae if you want melee units. They're beasts, so they move 12", are S4/T4 with a 5+ invulnerable save, and get 4 attacks on the charge for 10 points per model. Their only weakness in normal mode is a leadership of 4, but in killteam that doesn't matter because each model is a unit of 1, so no break checks.

Thank you for response

As per GW rules   0-1  elite , 0-2 Troops , and 0-1 Fast attack.

So  I don't really want to give up the reavers for khymerea's.    As understand the rules I would need to take a beast master to get kymerea also.

the elite choice was  really between  mandrakes , Wracks, and Incubie. The mandrakes would probably perform better since they each have 2 shots. I just like my converted wracks i guess Cool will see how they perform on the battle field though Cool.

No, you don't need a beastmaster to get khymera. Ok, so I just had a look at the kill team rules(it's been awhile! Very Happy).

If I was making the list, this is how I'd do it:

It says to take 3 specialists and a leader, so...

1 Unit of Trueborn:
1 Trueborn w/Splinter Cannon(Weapon Specialist - Sniper -- Gives Rending, Precision Shots, and Pinning to a weapon with 6 shots!!!)
1 Trueborn w/Splinter Cannon(Guerrilla Specialist - Preferred Enemy - Reroll both hits & wounds on 1s)
2 Trueborn w/Splinter Rifles
1 Dracon w/Splinter Rifle(Leader)

1 Unit of Scourges:
1 Solarite w/splinter pistol & power lance (Combat Specialist - Instant Death)
4 w/ShardCarbines

The way this kill team would play is, you'd keep both your splinter rifles in elevated positions(like ruins/battlements) to provide cover fire for the rest of your army. These are likely where many of your kills will come from. The rest of the trueborn and your Dracon will be your backfield objective holders, defending said objectives with their splinter rifles if enemies come to close, and the Dracon's 4 attacks on the charge(with furious assault later in game).

The Scourges are going to be your expeditionary force, moving forward to contest enemy objectives with their 12" movement and assault 3 poison weapons. They have armor 4+ with an inbuilt 6+ invulnerable save as well. The solarite is a surprisingly effective melee combatant with a power lance, assault grenades, and 4 attacks on the charge.

You'd be depending on your rending splinter cannon, plasma grenades, and solarite's lance to provide any anti-tank support, but I can't imagine you'll see a whole lot of mech at 200 points in those 3 slots.

But of course, to each his own! Good luck, however you decide to do it! Very Happy

Since these game go so fast I will probably run something like your list just to see it performance.

I will let you all know how it goes over next couple weeks Cool we playing one battle Wednesday Cool.

Cool. Let me know how it goes. I haven't played a lot of killteam games, but I can't imagine 36" poison rending pinning shots would be bad. Very Happy

Looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Hello again

Got to play  2 games on Thursday  instead of Wednesday.

1st game: Used the list  in first post for first game facing off again necron  death marks and  1 destroyer  1 heavy destroyer.     Won  the first game   by 2 points  line braker (thanks to reaver ) and holding  an objective with the infiltrating Wrack.  My friend  didn't have enough models to  really assault  and remove the wrack holing the objective.  we both lost our leader models which  we both agreed was just poor judgment our parts.

I saw your point about melee units  can only roughly kill  mobs once every 2 or 3 turns. rest of time moving to engage in melee.

2nd battle

Used  a different list.

8 Kalabit warriors  1 Splinter Cannon (rending specialist),  1 shredder (infiltrate specialist)

3  Scourges    1 Splinter Cannon (Relentless Specialist), 1 shredder (Leader) got lucky on role and end using Dirty Figher Rending special rule for his attack with melee and shredder.

M friend ran  10  necron Warrior   and 3 tomb blades with particle beamers and nebuloscopes.

Lost this one by 1 pt  Dam those bikes really really suck  ignoring cover.  Cant rem his specialist. his leader was one of the Necron warriors with  challenge rules for his special rule. he rolled for him.  he stuck him in the back and never let him bee seen.

The splinter cannon did really  well  until they died to  combine fire from warriors and bikes.  I was finally able to remove last bike with my leaders shredder.

What about mandrake in that format? We play it with a LOT of terrain so they could be fun.

Hello CptMetal

I thought about using mandrakes as some of my friend we play with say they are pretty goodie KT rules, I just like the look of my converted Wracks. I do have some converted Mandrakes that i made out of Spectral Host models (Fatntay Battle Undead unit).

I will see about making A KT list with Mandrakes and see how they perform.

I do like the Splinter Cannon because of range and rate of fire.

anyhow Than you for the response Cool

Maybe try something like this:

Unit 1
Dracon w/Haywire Grenades
Kabalite Trueborn w/Splinter Cannon(Rending Specialist)
Kabalite Trueborn w/Dark Lance
2 Kabalite Trueborn w/Splinter rifles

Unit 2
2 Kabalite Trueborn w/Dark Lance
3 Kabalite Trueborn w/Splinter rifles
TOTAL: 200 points

Then you'd basically want to put the 3 dark lances in ruins/cover to shoot from the back with their 36 inch shots, same with the cannon. Then you'd have 5 trueborn and a Dracon to be your expeditionary force, slowing the enemy approach and hugging ruins while moving towards the enemy deployment zone.

It's not a fast moving list, but it will shut down whatever fast moving stuff your opponent brings to bear with all the long range AT in the list.

Heya BetrayWorld

Cannot  have but 1 Elite  choice.

Did another two battles today  faced  off with my friend bringing 9 necron bikes Ignore cover saves (BLEH).   Needles to say  lost both games  those bikes  are just sick again all units we dark elder can bring in  a kill team.

ran both battles with 10 warriors    1 had  splinter cannot  rending specialist , 1 shredder infiltrate speciailiist,   2nd squard  was  5 Scourges    One with a Splinter cannon relentless specialist and  shredder my leader.

With cover not mattering  fist game was  done b turn 3 with him wining by 3 pts.

2nd game went better as i was able to kill his leader with lucky Plasma grenad throw and  his leader  failing both is  amor save 3+  and reanimation 5+.    I still ended up losing but only by 1 pt  this time.  Battle was over by turn 3 again.

Those bikes  are just sick with  their   no cover upgrade and the carbine  being ap 4.

My friend and I had fun , BUT he even agreed it would be no fun to face 9 bikes every week and is going to change his list around to something not so heavily favoring him.
