As evinced in the title, I'm looking at fitting these monsters into a smaller list.

For a game of only 1000 points, it comes close to eating half our available points from the get go. With transports included, we're looking at 400-500.

Here's my take:

CAD - 555
- 100 - Succubus w/ Archite Glaive, Haywire Grenades.
- 105 - 5x Kabalite Warriors w/ Venom with 2 Splinter Cannons
- 105 - 5x Kabalite Warriors w/ Venom with 2 Splinter Cannons
- 120 - 5x Scourges w/ 4x Haywire Blasters
- 125 - 1x Ravager w/ 3x Dark Lances

Grotequerie - 445
- 70 - Haemonculus
- 170 - 3x Grotesques w/ Raider with Enhanced Aethersails
- 205 - 4x Grotesques w/ Raider with Enhanced Aethersails

I *think*, or like to think, that the Dark Eldar CAD here offers just enough necessary support that the Grots get to do what they do best - destroying things that have toughness values. I've considered a cheaper Court in place of the Succubus, but the AP2 is invaluable and they can't join the Grots either.

Does anyone have experience with using Grotesquerie at such small limits?
If you were to attempt such madness, what sort of support would you look for from DE?

About as solid as a 1000 list goes. Could drop succubus's haywire and swap scourge for another ravager but I know you like scourge and it's not a bad choice at all.

As soon as I read this, I just imagined a single dreadnought doing horrific, terrible, awful things to my 300 point unit that can't hurt it back and is fearless so will never break until they're all ID'd.

It also means they can't interact in the slightest with something like a Land Raider or Drop pod sitting on an objective, so I think these 5 points are the best spent in the whole list.

Two Ravagers would be nice, but at the loss of the scourges I deem it unwise.

Good points sir. Especially throwing one then assualting for another, too bad there's not enough for scissor hands on the succubus group of grots

Yeah I agree, scissorhands would be really nice additions here. The Aberration serves a duel purpose then of also tanking challenges from things the Succubus is allergic to - such as anything strength 6 with a decent wound or toughness value.

I can't help but think of how many more goodies I could fit in if I just resigned myself to one unit of Kabalite Warriors taking no venom.

Opening up these 65 points earns me exactly one more Grotesque for the Haemonculus Grots, an Aberration with Scissorhand for the Succubus Grots, and gives the Haemonculus a scissorhand of his own.

What do you think of sacrificing one venom for that?

Not the worst idea ever. I'd lean more towards dropping one grot from the 4 man group, drop sails on both raiders, then you get two Abby's with scissors and the hamea can get scissors too

Oops and I was gunna say drop the ravager and do another 5 man scourge with 4 haywire blasters for the last 5 points you need

I run the Grotesquerie as low as 750. It works. This list is actually pretty similar to what I run at 1k.

I'd personally deep the Aethersails, and try to get a weapon (Scissorhand or Agonizer) and the Sump on the Haemonculus so he's not dead weight. 4th Grotesque isn't necessary - even at higher points, it's rare to find something 3 won't handle.

Consider blasters for the Warriors, or I'd even go as far as to say Dark Lances on the Raiders. Walkers are terrifying to this sort of list, and it pays to have more than two sources of anti-tank. I personally like to run Reavers with this sort of list too - they can bail the Grotesques out of close combat with a walker if needed too.

Would you mind showing me what you run at 750? are the only changes with your 1000 pt list to get reavers in there somewhere, maybe at the cost of a grot, some upgrades and either scourges or ravager?

I can see the wisdom in these choices. 3 of them should be able to perform against most targets quite adequately, and if things do go terribly wrong against things that ID them, then there's less lost.

I can find Dark Lances on Raiders a little vexing (the fabled one dark lance shot = one miss) but I will be able to afford them with some of the changes you mention and I do need more AT, so I might go with them anyway. Warriors with blasters are not really my cup of tea as the other 4 warriors sacrifice their positioning/run moves or shots so that I can have another 'one dark lance shot = one miss' opportunity.

Sure, here are my lists for 750 and 1k:

750:

1000:

I alternate the 1k list between playing a Ravager or playing Haywire Scourge + a Haywire Grenade for the Succubus. I also alternate between Lances on the Raiders or Syndriq's Sump based on whether I'm running with a Lance Ravager or not - as much of a Haywire junkie as I am, I do think it's important to have some lance fire to get shaken effects on vehicles at long range.

Personally my strategy in list building is to try to make every combination of unit+transport have at least some capability in both anti-infantry and anti-tank. The only thing I'd really be worried about running your list would be a double-Maulerfield list or something of the like. Nitpicking aside I think you've got a pretty solid list.

Hey, thanks for that.

Your list at 750 is so lean and mean. I imagine you see pretty good results with it? I know I'd certainly not want to play against it with most 750 lists I see in forums.

And, yeah, I can definitely see these small Reaver units helping out a lot with the Grotesques.

Cheers!

This list looks really fun. I don't own a Succubus but own a bunch of wyches I painted. Do you think a succubus would be viable without a Glaive? or is that kind of her whole point?

I think a Succubus is only borderline playable without it.

An Agoniser Succubus is in many ways a cheaper version of an Archon with Shadowfield and Agoniser. She's got slightly better stats, but less access to wargear. She also cares less about failing her invulnerable save once or twice in combat because she won't lose her access to it, like the Archon.

She still pales in comparison to an Archite Glaive Succubus, which I recommend you either proxy or build using surplus vehicle parts or Hellion Hellglaives.

I suppose you're right I am super interested in the lists posted on this forum since it solves all of my problems (fills my raiders). I will think about investing in one or looking at the Court (a Sslyth or ur-ghuul warlord seems silly, cheap and fun)

Yes, this list in particular, or any list that loves it's Groteques and Grotesquiries, will love your Raiders like long, lost siblings.

However, members of the Court are not in fact characters, so can never be your Warlord. A simple Syrabite on a Kabalite unit somewhere solves this issue if you're worried about your Warlord being expensive.
