They have a formation that let's them charge at the end of the enemies charge phase. But only against enemy units already locked in close combat. So it's kind of useless against us.

If I'm not mistaken space wolves got a formation allowing them to disembark at full speed. On the one hand,  maybe it'll be a thing for us. On the other hand it probably won't and raven guard will be better at stealth,  planning, ambush night fighting then we are while space wolves will be faster and better in assault. All while being tougher and costing less.

Yup, and Space Marines have a way to automatically immobilise vehicles - something I've always thought was better suited to us.

Of course, I'm still bitter that Kroot Mercenaries could take a splinter rifle and get +1 A from all the spikes on it, back in the day, something which Kabalites still haven't worked out Evil or Very Mad

As far as I know, the rule states that they can declare a charge at the end of the enemies charge sub phase. The target of said charge must be in close combat already.

And we are talking about space wolves and wulven. We don't want to be in close combat so whatever gets into close combat does so in the wolves charge phase. And it probably gets destroyed the same turn. So not really useful against us I'd say...

It might make some sense, if you meant to exclude grotesques from doing that (since they're the only ones who won't fit on a venom)?

Hardly! If you can manage just one wound with a dark light weapon (which shouldn't be too difficult), and they fail their test, you've got them set up nicely for even wyches to charge. Wyches! Very Happy

Not that I believe a word of it. These are cruel, cruel lies dreamed up to torment me with false hopes. They've gotten to me before, but I am wise to their cheap tricks now, and I will never trust again, so nyaaah!

You don't need a wound only a hit so very easy indeed! Altho it relies on a test so it's awesome when it happens but you can't rely on it.

MCs and GMCs are something that DE often struggle with and as you will be shooting DL etc. at them anyway blind will be awesome WHEN it happens.

Now if DL etc. get blind + a good points drop, id take that.

Stuff like the wraith knight are nearly immune to blind because they have to fail an initiative test and they only test at the end of the phase. Meaning you can't rely on it at all with an initiative of 5! Unpredictable and unreliable just like soulfright without leadership shenanigans...

What's worse is that if you want to make use of it to give your stuff ID and Rending, you'll have to get them into position before you know if your target is blinded or not.

So, if it passes its blind test, it's a little late for you to pull back your assault units. You won't even be able to run them into cover. tongue

The trouble is a points drop really doesn't help them much. Unless you're also talking about halving the cost of Ravagers and making dark lances assault weapons.

Why isn't it helping? A Blaster should be the same point costs as a Melter, but it isn't at the moment.

Granted, give standard Kabalite the option for Haywire or heat lances and I'm a happy little space Elf.

There are so many improvement options that would make us good, fluffy and competitive again. So many that I fear we'll get a nerf...

Because they're still vastly worse anti-vehicle weapons.

They need something more in line with an extra shot (or else we need to be able to take more of them per squad). Knocking 5pts off a 5-man warrior squad with a blaster is a negligible difference overall. Trueborn squads would benefit slightly more, but would still be bad at their role.

Also, you could *maybe* argue that the blaster is a better generalist weapon (though I'd argue +6" or range isn't worth trading melta and AP1 for), but we already have poison weapons as far as the eye can see. Most of the things poison isn't effective against are also very resistant to blasters.

@CptMetal wrote:

Again though, I'd rather just have the Eldar/Corsair option of having the option of a proper melta, rather than those stupid heat lances. Or, God forbid, we could just get 18" meltas like Tau. That way we might actually have some glass to go with our cannon.

Haywire on kabalites is lacklustre for the same reason as haywire grenades. Single-shot haywire attacks are just horribly inefficient.

Well, on the plus side, I don't think the book could be less fluffy. They've already removed basically every unique special rule we had... there's not much else they can take away.

Though I suppose I shouldn't tempt fate by saying that. Rolling Eyes

Considering the guy I usually play against is an avid Tau user, the addition of blind would be awesome.

I'm pretty sure the things not inherently immune to blind can take an upgrade that makes them immune to blind a well. Sold off my Tau, so can't confirm it, just going off of memory.

Blind on darklances... "My free raider hits... and blinds your 600pt Tau Supremacy armor". Just a reminder that forgeworld forgot to give their biggest Tau unit black sun filters.

As vehicles aren't affected by blind though it's... not all that useful.

Wych plastic kit is really strange though especially since it's a relatively new and great looking kit. It's more likely another unit mistaken for wyches, like the "Greatcoat guardsmen" rumor from yeaaars back turning out to be Skitarii.

Making haywire blasters rapid fire would make them quasi-melta, in that their effectiveness increases at shorter range.

by the way, the Corsair codex is worded in a way that any changes to DE weapons will update them for Corsairs right?

The only things that either aren't naturally immune or can't take the blacksun filter that makes them immune are the infantry units. Blacksun filters are a 1pt upgrade for vehicles, and battlesuits come with them built in.

Only if they're not mentioned in the summary at the end of the book.

e.g. Corsairs won't benefit from any changes to Dark Lances, Blasters or Blast Pistols - as their profiles are included in the summary page.

The original source for all of these rumors is Recceus of the ITC at frontlinegaming in their last signals from the frontline (#407). He has said his source has been right in the past but it sounds like he is implying the source doesn't have a perfect record. I would bet we're seeing a DE update this year at the least even if only some or none of this is true. All we can do is hope it's a good update and we get a kickass campaign set out of it.

I personally feel this is trying into the end times narrative theme that's kinda going on with all these new campaigns and books.

On the topic of the tau, I don't play them but to people actually pay the points to make things immune to blind? I mean it's a nigh useless rule that no one has right? Why buy it?
