Rokuro's Conversion Table Empty
PostSubject: Rokuro's Conversion Table   Rokuro's Conversion Table I_icon_minitimeFri Dec 04 2015, 22:07

Now that I finally own a digital camera, I want to show you some of the models I've been building.
I still have a lot to learn when it comes to photographing my models, but I hope my conversions still make a good enough impression. Wink

Archon Yanos Kourael - Kabal of the Sterling Claw
Rokuro's Conversion Table 01310Rokuro's Conversion Table 02010Rokuro's Conversion Table 01910
The sword is meant to be an Agonizer and the right glove a Blaster (Digital Weapon). The slave girl can be used as a marker.

Rokuro's Conversion Table 01810
All the important parts are magnetized, so I'll have options for pistols, a Torment Grenade Launcher and different markers.

[WIP] Haemonculix Haruja the Flawless, Ktyon's Firstborn, Dark Artisan, Mistress of Regeneration - Coven of the Disected Mind
Rokuro's Conversion Table 00510Rokuro's Conversion Table 00610
Her head, arms and two of her hands are magnetized. Here she is equipped with a Liquifier and a Scissor Hand. The helmet can be used to represent the Helm of Spite.
The small creature next to her is what I call an Aesculos Symbiote Engine, a miniature Cronos of sorts. It can serve as a Nightmare Doll or any sort of marker.
[Note:] A dual rack of Cronos antennae is supposed to be added in the Scourge back's wing slots. But I'm not really statisfied with the armored chest, so I might actually take her appart again.

[WIP] Haemonculix Aranya Mangola, the Spider Queen, Mistress of Augmentation - Coven of the Disected Mind
Rokuro's Conversion Table 03710Rokuro's Conversion Table 04010
After an "accident" involving a stray Monoscythe Missile, Lady Mangola's legs are no longer permanently attached to her torso. In true Covenite fashion, she took it as an opportunity for a crazy experiment and connected herself to the back of an arachnoid Engine of Pain.
[Note:] I don't have all the parts I need for her yet, so consider this a conversion in pre-alpha stage.

Hekatrix Hariel Thorndancer - Cult of the True Blade
Rokuro's Conversion Table 00810Rokuro's Conversion Table 00910
A rising star in the (admittedly rather small) arenas of Tanagra, Hariel is known mainly for her sure and graceful steps between thorny vines and barbed wire, as well as for lacking team spirit. While she does lead the Thorndancers, a Wych team bearing her name and trying to adaptate her fighting style, she thinks of them as more of a nuisance than a real fellowship.
Both arms are magnetized.

As-of-yet-unnamed Reaver Champion - Cult of the True Blade
Rokuro's Conversion Table 05010
My Reavers are built for getting close and personal with the enemy anyway, so I prefer Heat Lances over Blasters, in addition to Cluster Caltrops. My Champion carries both. And because she is a character, the chances of losing those weapons to enemy fire are somewhat lower. Wink

Kabalite Warriors with Blasters - Kabal of the Sterling Claw
Rokuro's Conversion Table 00710
I'm not a fan of Dark Lances on infantry, so I cut the elongated muzzles off and use them as Blasters instead. The idea is that the Warriors use a model designed for longer ranged and more percise fire from a stable position. Trueborn use regular Blasters; a lighter model that can be fired from the hip easier while on a speeding Venom.
[Note:] Photos of said Trueborn are comming soon.

[WIP] Cronos tail and base
Rokuro's Conversion Table 05110
This is going to be the lower half of Anomaly, Haruja's custom Parasite Engine. The dual Spirit Probes at the end of the tail are individually magnetized.
The Wych on the base belongs to the Bladed Spiders, a team of the True Blade Cult that struck a deal with Lady Mangola to recieve a number of enhancements. I will build the whole team at some point, but Wyches are understandably a low-priority project for me at this point.

[WIP] "Talosaurus"
Rokuro's Conversion Table 00210
This is a conversion I announced a few months ago: A Hydra head and neck on a Dragon Ogre body. Yes, it works! lol!
Given, what didn't work was to use them as Grotesques. They are obviously too big for that. So I'll be using them as a Non-Coven Talos squad instead. A pair of gun pods and a Hellion rider will be added in the future, after I filled the gaps with Green Stuff.

More to come!

Clicking on them should open a link to servimg.com, where the pictures should be displayed in their original size.

The pics come up really small for me too. It looks like you have posted the thumbnail from serving. If you do the link for the image url it will come up normal size. It makes it alot easier to view than having to click on each image individually Smile

The Archon's is from the plastic Skaven Warlord, the Haemonculix's is from the plastic Eversor Assassin.

Alright, here is another week's worth of conversion work!

Rokuro's Conversion Table 00110Rokuro's Conversion Table 00410
I made some progress on Aranya. Now you can get a better idea of what she will look like finished. The next step will require some green stuff.

Rokuro's Conversion Table 00511
Hariel now has a bayonet on her pistol. And I'm planing to do the same for her Wyches. But as I said before; Wyches are not really an important unit for me to build right now.

Rokuro's Conversion Table 00811
My first Sslyth for Yanos's Court, almost finished.
All four arms are magnetized. The Shard Carbine is from the Scourges, of course, and the close combat weaons from Dark Elf (or is it "Aelf" now? scratch) Corsairs, whose bodies I use for Trueborn. Another Sslyth will even carry a banner.
And yes, that's a 32mm base. Because why would a snake need a base for something as wide as a Terminator?
Rokuro's Conversion Table 01011
In addition to three Sslyth, the Court wil also include one Medusae, the first bits of which you can see here. The torso front is from a Scourge, the back from a Hellion. There's a lot of room for combinations between those two sets. Wink
I'm still looking for suitable legs, preferably without an utility belt. She wouldn't have a use for grenades, ammo clips and stuff like that anyway, let alone be able to reach it. Razz
Mandrake legs, maybe?

And last but not least, I get to introduce a new character:

Shemia Diredream, Exodite Seer
Rokuro's Conversion Table 00310
This girl is the very foundation of Yanos Kourael's power. She became his slave and uses her precognitive abilities to keep him ahead of his enemies at all time, and in return he keeps his Kabalites from attacking her people. Not the fairest of deals, but the two know how much they depend on eachother.

Shemia is based on Alarielle, but with the head of a plastic High Elf Sorcerer (resculpted a bit to look more feminine) and the staff top of an Eldar Spiritseer.
In-game, I'll use her as either a Shadowseer or Spiritseer, once I got some Harlequin/Craftworld allies ready to field her with.

I'm also working on a squad of Kabalite Warriors, but the only conversions amongst those are the Blasters, which I already showed you. And then there are five Trueborn as well, but they are already getting painted. You'll see them in a different thread, hopefully soon. Wink

I didn't get much done in terms of conversions this week, mainly because my Mail Order stuff didn't arrive as planned. So I spent most of my hobby time deburing Warrior legs and torsi - guns, arms and heads still pending.
It's the first and probably the most important step to get good-looking models, but it's also the longest, most tedious and least artistic, and therefor the least fun. Rolling Eyes
Rokuro's Conversion Table 00512
At least I also got started with classic Raider. Another one still waiting in its box.
The headless wolves you can see on the right are one half of a conversion I would have done if their replacement heads had arrived.

And then I prepared some more or less pointless weapon conversions. None of them are pinned or glued yet.
Rokuro's Conversion Table 00812
- A Haywire Blaster; actually a Shredder with a barrel from a Talos tail weapon. My Scourges will get four of those instead of the unwieldy (and rare) official ones.
- A Shredder Pistol. Now, this weapon doesn't exist in the game, but I might take it if it would - especially if it was a flamer and/or pinning. Anyway, it's probably going to be just a decorative bit.
- A Scourge Venom Blade on a Wych arm. Remember when that actually was an option? The Razor Flail it originally held broke, so I just wanted to replace the blade with something. I'm not sure what I'll use it for though, maybe a Power Sword for a Succubus.
- A Dark Eldar Power Axe, made from an Impaler shaft and a Hellglaive blade. Another weapon that doesn't exist in our current codex for no good reason. I guess I'll use it as a Power Sword, or just an identification detail for a potential Sybarite.
- A scythe (again, "Power Sword" for gameplay purposes) for my second named Hekatrix. The blade is from the Empire Battle Wizard box, the shaft from a Hellglaive.

Hopefully, I'll have a few more interesting creatures to show you next week - and finally get those Warriors done along the way.

The one thing that struck me a bit was that the top of the Scythe is really elaborate and heavily-embellished with decoration, but the rest of the handle is really plain and bare. Might it be worth adding some skulls or other decorations to the handle, so that there's less of a contrast?

(That said, it might look fine when painted, so feel free to ignore me).

That aside, those all look really nice. I only wish Shredder pistols were really a thing.

You do have point there. I should at least put a decorative spike or something on the other end, I think.
My idea for the paintjob was that the skull and vines on it would be real ones that were added by the owner. But without them, the blade was just as simple looking as the shaft.

Ehh, probably not. I can fill gaps with Green Stuff and model skin and fur decently, but sculpting roses out of it is a few levels above mine. Rokuro's Conversion Table Animesweat

My order arrived a week late, but at last it did. And this is what I made from it.

Rokuro's Conversion Table 01311
Rokuro's Conversion Table 01710
Rokuro's Conversion Table 01610
Rokuro's Conversion Table 01410

Originally meant to be Hellions or Beastmasters, I'll be using them as Reavers for the time being.
I was a little torn about which head to choose for the creature: A somewhat inaccurate but unmistakable Pteranodon, or a mix of a Dimorphodon and a piranha. The latter looked definitely more exotic, but Ripperdactyles are sadly a "vanilla" build, not a conversion. So I chose the usually more, yet in this case maybe less generic option.

And this is where the Ripperdactyl heads end up at.
Rokuro's Conversion Table 00911

I'll be using these as Kymerae. Currently I have eight, but I will try to get two more heads, so I can have five of them with five Beastmasters each in two units.
Curiously, my "Kymerae" look a little like carnivorous feathered Ceratopsians; a concept weird enough for Warhammer, but there are paleonthologists who think something like this could actually have existed! Shocked

Lastly, I gave my Medusae the legs of a Mandrake.
Rokuro's Conversion Table 00611
Rokuro's Conversion Table 00711

Mandrakes aren't nearly as buff as Empire Flagelants, or even other Dark Eldar, so the proportions could have been way off. Fortunately, the hakama covers enough of the legs, so the difference isn't really visible.
Now that I have spent so much time converting her, I'm tempted to give her an own backstory. Smile

Rokuro's Conversion Table 00813

The rest of the Mandrake, posed on an own base. Could make for a nice conversion of one emerging from a shadow. Wink
I have different models for Mandrakes already, but still, maybe I'll use this for a diorama or something, one day.

Next week I'll mainly finish my current projects (which involves deburing at least 25 rifles and 5 Cold Ones Crying or Very sad), including a few Craftworld units, which probably won't be converted though. But we'll see, maybe I get to build something more interesting along the way.

That's another possibility, but my actual Beastmasters are already Cold One Knights with Shard Carbines. Wink
I'm currently working on a second unit of them (the first is already primed black, and that doesn't really look good on photos), and of course I will post pictures once I'm done.

This week, I was busy mostly with Kabalite Warriors and Windriders. I tried starting to convert an Autarch, but I couldn't even figure out how to give him the weapons I want yet. I really miss that winged Finecast one now... Crying or Very sad
