I will be posting it up, my patrons of course get a pre release on the blog http://patreon.com/skaredcast check it out!

HUGE update! I have changed the parameters of the one spirit series, each force has a 500pt and a 750 ot version ... So I can run 3 of the different forces at 1500 pts or all 4 at 2k! I'm very excited I have been tweaking the armies and I am pleased to say that the rough drafts are DONE! Expect hobby updates as well, the game last night really inspired me to try a few things but putting them on paper really helped.

Here is the first battle report that features the corsairs... They did play a big part in the game! But its not the one spirit force that I am working on.

PostSubject: Re: One Spirit - One Song, One Deadly Dance   Wed Dec 30 2015, 12:33

A while ago, I had the idea to do something a little like this, but with pure DE/coven. My original plan was to have 3 500pt armies - A Kabalite one led by an Archon, a Wych one led by a Succubus and a Coven one led by a Haemonculus.

The main issue I had was trying to make an evenly-split (and flavourful) army that I actually liked. I ended up dropping the Succubus early on, because there simply weren't enough wych units I liked (Just Reavers in fact). The Coven side then became a problem, as I struggled to find a combination of units that would get me to 750pts, without either having multiple haemonculi or else using up all the vehicles I needed for the Kabalite side. Eventually, I ended up just going pure Kabalite, using 2 Archons and splitting my army down the middle. It didn't go well, and probably wasn't helped by my general hatred of DE HQs at the best of times.

Anyway, I know it sounds like I'm just rambling, but believe it or not there is a point to me telling you this. Two points in fact:

Firstly, your thread has inspired me to try this again - but this time making use of Corsairs.

Second, I thought I'd suggest something you could do for a bit of fun (which was my original intent with this idea) - basically make it a competition between your different commanders. Keep track of their kills, and see who performs best each game. Smile

I like the idea of a competition between the commanders!

Update for the orchestra!

I have played two games with the dark Eldar, coven and corsairs! First game was against some space marines and the second game was against imperial guard!

Oh, btw, I just looked as your Grotesque list (site didn't seem to be working before).

Anyway, the one thing that seemed out of place to me was the 2 liquifier guns. They're really awful weapons and it just seems like there'd be better uses for those points. Maybe Night Shields for the Raiders, or some more melee stuff for the Haemonculus or Grots.

I had the same thought, but to be fair, that is also the general consensus on Mandrakes, yet Skari somehow manages to make them work.

I LOVE liquifiers when I have the points for them... they always do some work for me! I bait the enemy and then flame them to death... its great watching a space marine cringe and say things like *shyte* when you roll that AP 2 or 3... lol.

But they are one of the first thins I cut from the list when I dont have the points.

The 500 point lists are coming along! I have revamped the series to all include 500point lists, from 5 sources, Craftworld, Coven, Corsairs, Dark Eldar (kabalite), Harlequins.

Should I add a wych element?

Isn't the strength 3 a problem for the Liquifier Gun?

I can see liquifiers doing work if the enemy is bunched and you get a good AP roll. I haven't used them since they got a shellacking with the nerf bat because they were totally OP before Laughing .

My concern is that you kill a couple of models and make you charge roll harder, leaving you grots hanging in the breeze.

Id prob go with night shields but i'm sure skari knows what he's doing.

Really?

My SM opponents just laugh as the all those S3 AP3 hits bounce off their T4.

Yeah, I paid 3 times what you pay for your flamer!

Yes I pay for the gun, and s3 is not that bad when there are a lot of other armies out there other than space marines. Do t forget the wall of death rule as well!

Corsair list on the patreon page I'll link it up later.

Most of which care even less about a S3 APd6 flamer. Rolling Eyes

Okay, what exactly is charging your grotesques that doesn't care about 4-7 S5 Poison 4+ attackes apiece, but which will be devastated by 2d3 S3 APd6 hits? Neutral

I see the Shredder likes to invest his points wisely. Like a good archon Very Happy dare to live a little! You might like what you achieve if you look outside of the proverbial box, ,leaders and entrepreneurs always break the rules a little.

Im just pushin yer buttons. As a hobby of ours we can do whatever we want! That also includes not paying for silly upgrades like cool, acid spewing flamers that have the potential to melt our foes into piles of goo.

Moving on to the next thing!

Bah! Next you'll be saying I should go outside and *shudders* meet people. Suspect

More seriously, I'm fine with that sort of thing - I just think it's also wise to be honest and pragmatic about how useful those items actually are and why we're really taking them.

A while back I tried a Wrack "sniper" unit, with an Ossefactor, Hexrifle-Acothyst and Hexrifle Haemonculus. Much as I wanted to like the Hexrifle, I also had to be honest with myself about how useful the squad actually was. The most positive thing I can say is that my Warlord never died in that squad. But, those Hexrifles were consistently useless against any and all targets.

The same goes for the liquifier guns (which I've tried on a Wrack unit similar to the above, and also on a WWP Dark Artisan) - if I said they were effective or worth their points, I'd only be lying to myself.

I just think it's good to keep in mind whether you're taking a particular upgrade because it's effective or because it's fluffy.

In terms of why I don't experiment as much these days, three reasons mainly:

1) As above, I've already experimented with most of the stuff in DE, and there wasn't exactly much to start with. Wink

2) I usually play 2v2s, and I really like feeling that I'm letting my team-mate down by using a poor list - especially since we don't get to play much these days.

3) The power creep in both the new books and in my own group hasn't exactly made me keen to use our many sub-par options. I mean, one of my opponent's lists basically gives him a ton of buffs and a free Imperial Knight. Hence I'm rather wary of handicapping my own list.

One thing that puzzles me with that list is why missile launchers on the Balestrikes? They just seem like Dark Lances but with worse AP and for vastly more points. Might it be better to trade them in for Dark Lances? (That way, you could also have more than 2). I'd also suggest trading in your Prince's Haywire Grenades (which cost 3 times as much as is reasonable, for some reason) for another Dark Lance or such on the Balestrikes.

Out of interest, where are the Prince and Baron going?

Quoting from the Skared's page itself, (I like the paint scheme btw)

"The bales trike band will eventually run with dark lances but right now they have eldar missile launchers."

I think it's fair to say Skared knows they're not quite as good as Dark Lances, but his current set up is probably the way it is due to lacking those tasty lance models.

Interestingly, I've just posted a very similar list for 500 points here: http://www.thedarkcity.net/t13398-500-point-corsairs

I've managed to squeeze in a venom, but like you, I've got EML on my balestrikes because that's what I've got modelled, but would rather have dark lances!
