Hi All!
New to the group, and looking to get into DE from my long time SW army.

Anyways, I have seen a number of basic color templates for the DE Kabals (see Lexicanium's kabals)

Is there a program/app/site etc that people use to try and test out color combinations, without actually painting a model?

Thanks!

Not a dumb question at all. I'm afraid my answer's pretty dumb though: I don't know.

I'm a very analog person, so I do have an analog suggestion. If it were me, and I couldn't find a site/app/program, I'd draw (or trace) a picture of a Kabalite, photocopy it a few times, and then experiment with colors by hand. If I was really motivated (I would not be really motivated) I'd print it on acetate and then I could slide cards with possible colors on them under the transparency.

Thanks for the suggestion. I may do the trace and copy method.

The only thing I can think of is the army color picker in Dawn of war : soulstorms multiplayer mode.
Should be fairly easy to emulate using the color swap function in Photoshop, if you have access to that.

Dumb Question BlankWarriortemplate1

Import into Paint, make black and white (then restore to colour settings), then play away with the fill tool.

You don't get shading, but you get a basic idea of base colour schemes.

When viewed from a PC, this shows up correctly. (Phone, not so much)
Thanks Squid.

I think you might want to have a look at THIS thread. :-)

Its not a programm but it did help me (and my kids) immensely. ;-) You can colour those by hand or in Gimp or another drawing programm.

Also try to have look at Colour Scheme Designer.

Just use a simple white sheet of paper! Color scheme is just how colors sits next to each other, you dont  really even need a model at this point.

I always do this before painting new color scheme.

If you will like them on paper - i promise they will look sweet on model.
Read color theory and study color wheel - thats 1 hour well spent.
