And another gargantuan creature. What bothers me most is the mega missile launcher...

Dude, it's only T6, Ld 8, and 3+ save. It's a pushover. An expensive pushover, at that. It kicks like a mule, for sure, but it definitely looks reasonably balanced.

Still a gargantuan creature we only wound on 6 that can fire twice.

But I must admit, on my phone screen it looked like toughness 8... XD

I think the new suit looks pretty reasonable, especially in the Age of Wraithknights and KX 139's.
It has massive fire power, yet is still vulnerable to higher strength shooting and assault (especially if its true it can't stomp if fires twice. Not saying we'd out right beat it in assualt but it is much easier to tie up than say a WK)
The massive missile system relies on dice rolls (admittedly 4 die, but still)
At this point I reckon you could field these and cop less flak than if you ran WK. My opinion only, obviously.

It is only reasonable costed if you compare it to a Wraithknight. Despite beeing an artillery unit, it even guts an imperial knight.

How?
Not to be argumentative but I don't really see it.
Over time with plenty of shooting sure, and I don't see how it could engage and destroy a Knight Titan in CC.
That being said, I'm basing this off super blurry (why are they always blurry) pics and not seeing how the 'suit fits in with the rest of the codex.

And isn't everything compared to the WK nowadays?

Not sure how it guts an imperial knight. The imp knight can do some serious work shooting at the stormsurge with it's Gatling cannons. Tough 6 means it can be wounded much easier with lances. It shouldn't be easy to kill in one turn for most people either. It should take a little work. It will be easier to kill then a wraithknight. Especially considering it doesn't want to move. My grotesques will make the stormsurge their bitch ;-)

I am looking forwards to fighting against this little fella. I am also glad that turn one he cannot fire everything twice.

I haven't gone up agent many people who have gargantuan creature but i have not seen a unit of gargantuan creature before and i may be reading the blurry text wrong but it looks like you can have a unit of 3 of them. it may be a lot of points but i can see that wiping out a lot and harder to take all of them out.

Even with a unit of 3 they can only kill two units a turn, and the point cost would be massive.

Huh? Each weapon can target a different unit - so 3 of them can select ALOT of targets!

Great. But you could target all together using psychic shriek at least

I can't read it right now, but reading it last night I didn't see anything that would allow the unit to all choose different targets from one another.  The whole unit gets two shooting attacks.

Isn't that split fire rule from gargantuan creature?

6 S10 blasts per turn while it can still shoot its S5 shots somewhere else.
I do not see the need to go into melee. Why should it? It will shoot of 2 rounds and will be bubblewrapped to keep those pesky melee units in a comfortable range for its D weapons.

6 S10? What weapon you referimg to Klaivex?
Or are you talking about a squad of 3 of these things, in which case I hope 1000+ of gargantuan creatures destroys a single super heavy.

And since c when can a GC only fire 2 and not at different targets?

I see what you're saying with the GMC rules.  For each weapon though, wouldn't they still be bound to fire as a unit on the same target?

A GMC can fire all of his weapons at different targets.
It has 1 shot with a S10 Large blast and one weapon that has 3 fire modes, one of them is heavy 2 S10 Blast. If he remains stationary he may fire all his weapons twice, so 6 S10 shots (and 8D6 S5 shots)

Quote :
When a Gargantuan Creature or Flying Gargantuan Creature makes a shooting attack, it may fire each of its weapons at a different target if desired.

Also it can be upgraded with skyfire and interceptor which should be sufficient to protect it from "unexpected" deepstrikes.

@Klaivex - I see what you did there.
My confusion stemmed from the fact I believe the "Pulse blastcannon" (multi fire modes) and the "Pulse Drivercannon"( S10) is a one or the other wargear choice.
Dataslate seems to show it come with blastcannon standard and  may pay 15/25 (can't read it) to change to a driver cannon.

And if it can take those support systems you mentioned it'll be an ace way to put off droppods

Yeah, I pretty much refuse to play any Tau army these days. I don't enjoy them, and what I've seen of the new suits just reinforces that (yes, theres a SECOND new suit beyond the one on the first page here, and its a massive stealth suit).

I just don't get that mentality - to me that smacks of being a bad sport and sore loser.

Are you seriously saying because someone plays Tau - list unseen - you wont play them?

really?

I have a small Tau army and basically stopped playing them a while ago. Not because they were OP but because I found them incredibly boring to play.

I did the same - they don't suit (pun intended) the way I like to play
