Fair call. I agree, also in regards to changes - combat drugs being removed annoyed me as well.
I think i'll trial the clone field for some tabletop experience with it. It might just be a case of archon eating squads while venoms eat armour 2+. If i'm feeling risky... heroism can come turn 5.

I wish we could buy an Incubbi HQ or give the Archon or succubus a bike, but I'm okay with what he got now. He can't threaten 2+ Armour enemies, but everything can be turned into a small bloody pile of... stuff. Especially when he has an agoniser and strength 5+, what can happen fast against chaos.

Iwouldnt mind a bike for succubus or Scourge wings for archon, but fluff wise I don't think wings would make sense

They should be available to Archons and Succubi. I'd also like to see an Artefact Skyboard that duplicates some of the Baron's old rules.

It was one of the main disappointments with the new codex for me. I knew they'd get rid of the characters without models but there was no reason that they couldn't give options to recreate them via special rules on artefacts. Instead we get a list of 6 items, 4 of which are arguably useless and none of which really add anything back that we lost.

Agreed.

For me, it was equally annoying that we got 2 new sculpts for characters who already had them (and, IMO, the Archon one is actually worse), which could easily have been used to instead give us 2 SC models.

The new Archon kit's just tragic. I think it says something that most of the pictures of it in the codex have it converted. I think the real problem is the fact that a lot of the Archon's gear pertains to combat, including the clone field, but the Succubus is almost always going to be the better option when it comes to dishing out damage, and trying to kit any T3 character to be a tank is foolhardy.

Well, to be fair, the old kit was entirely melee based too (with a Huskblade and Soultrap).

The difference was that he had a really nice post, some great designs to catch the eye and some lovely wargear (the aforementioned Soul Trap).

The new one has a boring pose, and his crossed arms just look silly. As does his gormless face, which looks like someone carved features into a deformed potato. Finally, there's just nothing interesting or eyecatching about it. It's about as generic a sculpt as you can get.

On the plus, an Archon with a clone field, blaster and webway portal comes out to 130 points. Not entirely budget but, stuffed in a unit scythe guard, fire dragons or trueborn he could get them to whatever large target they need to pop. Though, if he's on a suicide mission you could drop the clone field to save points to put towards another HQ

But we're also back to the Archon basically being a 65pt tax on a drop pod.

But you could convert the new Archon into some kind of dark Eldar y Farseer if you make him levitate.

Remember the time when an Archon had a Skyboard and drugs so he could move 12" And attack 12" with 6A S5 AP2 rerolling to hit for 125 points? Wink

Remember when Shadowfield was 25pts instead of 40?

And when Agonisers were 5pts cheaper, AP2 and could glance vehicles on 6s.

To be fair, fluff wise the overall codex sucked. And the discrepancy between useful and usless units were a lot greater.
Personally I like it more now.
