Hmm... if you want to go for the opposite of DE do Orks Razz Just for a different play style.

Investing in some Craftworld Eldar be a good idea. Being battle brothers with Dark Eldar can lead to some fun combinations. They do have access to one of the most efficient troop choices in the game if you are going super competitive. The codex also offers a large variety of choices in how you want your army to operate, so it can fit your playstyle.

Don't the new Eldar have troops with D weapons?

They do not. What you are thinking of are the wraith guard, which are an elite slot. The troop choice I was alluding to was the scatter laser wind riders that they can grab. Mean thing about them is that every bike can be equipped with a scatter laser, giving you a fast moving objective secured unit with serious firepower. I would advice against spamming them in casual games because they have a feeling of "win at all costs" attached to them.

Oh gotcha. D weapons in regular 40k.. LoWs.... 9 Tali an army.... (reasons I moved to Warmahordes but maybe I just prefer the strategic and skirmish sense that the game has to offer)

I have Orks, Eldar and Daemonkin myself (which have so far only been fielded as regular CSM). Orks can be fun, but nowhere near as fun as they could be as they aren't as forgiving anymore. I'm actually considering selling the army simply because of the amount of stuff I'd have to buy to make them viable.

Eldar will pair well but I've gone really cold on them myself. Maybe it's the wrath they attract from other players Shocked

Chaos have a lot of characterful fun to offer, all sorts of conversion opportunities, rich background, so of the three others that I have, I'd suggest them, but it really depends what you're looking for. They are not terribly competitive if you're fielding them as a single detachment with no allies or anything. But if you want a complete change from Dark Eldar (good armour saves, tough troops, fearless thrown about like it's going out of fashion, close combat specialists who might actually see close combat even if they run all the way across the board shouting about blood and skulls and such), they might be a fun one to go for Smile

I'm pretty frustrated with the dark eldar right now and I don't expect that to improve any time soon.  I expect at least another year or two before we get a new codex.  So if I were to build a new army, I'd basically build a better dark kin out the new space marine codex.

Space marine scouts are 3 points more than kabalites, but their 5-man, dedicated skimmers are 15 points less than our venoms, so a squad of 5 kabalites + venom = 5 scouts + landspeeder storm.

Scouts have a lot of weapon options, but In general I'd either give them sniper rifles and infiltrate them into cover to drown enemies in poison from 36". Or I'd stick them on their dedicated transport and fly to my objectives with bolters blazing.  Either way is surprisingly cheap.

Each 5 man squad also has access to a heavy bolter with 2+ poison rounds if you need to kill monsters, or a missile launcher with flakk missiles if you need the AT/AA.  Add an occasional melta-bomb and they're quite a flexible unit.

For more fast anti-tank though: 3 landspeeders with 6 multimeltas (which is probably overkill) take up one fast attack slot and cost a total of 210 points.  It's comparable to 2 ravagers in cost/firepower/durability, because even though they're av10, there's more of them and they're not open top.
