Agree that the Wrack formations are *okay*, not great, and the CtC, DA, and Grotesquerie are WAY better IMHO. But I was referring more to the basic Wracks themselves, right out of the codex. If the Covens book didn't exist, I'd still run Talos and Grots (and maybe even Cronos), just because they are effective at their intended role. I'm not sure I'd say the same about Wracks.

Oh, absolutely! (Although I'd put Scalpel squadron in the 'great' column, too.)

10 points for giving potential 8 attacks the rending USR is not unreasonable.

No 20pts, 10pts to Upgrade the Dude adn 10pts for the weapon.

I thought the upgrade is a given as your dudes are limited anyways (if you want to transport them) and an aditional attack that can accept/issue challenges is pretty much worth the 10 points.

The way I see it and how I play: If you upgrade 4, thats 20ptsx4=80 pts

For 20pts you are getting +1a and Rend on 1 dude
For 80pts thats 4 attacks and 4 dudes with Rend

But for 80 pts I can get 2 more Grots thats 6 more attacks with 6 more wounds/2bodies

So Do I need rending or More attacks/Wounds? I personally feel More bodies in a Flootslug army is ALWAYS better than a couple extra attasks.

Without the Scissorhand, you can't handle Walkers (and ten points to threaten walkers is worth it, imho).

And without the Abby, if Abaddon or some other challenge happy dingus comes along, your HQ's become the newest citizens of the sovereign nation of Assinthebreezia.

(Funny milestone: having typed it often enough, my iPad has officially added Assinthebreezia to my autocorrect dictionary.)

So if I run my 100 points Dread into your Grots they will just say "wow good thing we had that extra grots... hey we cant kill that thing at all and can't run away while it igores our high T and FnP but good thing we chose an additional body over Rending"

Quoted for truth. I had Murderfang charge into my Dark Artisan. He killed the Talos and was on his way to killing the whole squad when my lowly Haemonculus with Scissorhand rolled two sixes to pen followed by two + 3's on the extra D3, taking Mr. Fang's last two hull points. So, yeah, if you don't want a 100 point Dread to negate your Grots, I'd say put the Scissorhand on the Haemie AND the Abberration.

Don't forget that Scissorhands also grant +3 to hedge-sculpting.

Unless you've picked up Fearless on them (you know, on turn 2 or so) and can't utilize the Our Weapons Are Useless rule.

Personally I don't take scissors hands. Partly because an average of 0.45 rends against AV12 doesn't fill me with confident against walkers. But also because I don't feel the neef to field aberrations. My heamonculi are used to buff feel no pain and bring WWPs. I never give them any other gear so their contribution to combat is negligible, so I'm happy to decline challenges and let the grots do the heavy lifting. All in all this saves me 60pts in my current list which allows me to drop two grots for an extra Talos, which is much more useful against walkers. But that's just my opinion. Smile

Against walkers I would use one of the 7 MC's in my list.

Talos and Cronos smashing is the way to handle walkers

Not sure what a single S10 attack that only hit with on 4+ is actually doing...

Well, if you're smashing you only get one attack apiece.

Though, I think the bigger question is how your catching his dreadnoughts with your MCs. By our standards, it's like a tortoise trying to catch another tortoise. Wink

After looking through the Repugnant Ramblers batreps I think I have an Idea of an army I'd want to collect.

Dark Artisan Formation:

Haemonculus:
-warlord
-agonizer
-Panacea Perverted

Talos:
-chain flails( or however they're called )

Cronos
-spirit probe

Corpsethief Claw Formation:

5 Taloi:
-chain flails

Covenite Cotery Detachment:

Haemonculus:
-scissor hand
-web way portal

Haemonculus:
-scissor hand
-web way portal

9 Grotesques:
-bare bones

9 Grotesques:
-bare bones

-->1850 points

I pretty much copied half my army from Mushkilla's Repugnant Ramblers. It follows the same idea of having Grotesques deepstriking and rotating between objectives. I added my own idea of an invincible horde of MCs that advance into enemy lines rather than having them sit on home objectives. Artisan and Corpsethief will be fielded turn one and will footslog to the enemy. Though they will get shot at I think they will survive most of it. The Dark Artisan will give me 4+FnP- and reroll-FnP-1s-bubbles, effectively giving my MCs a 2/3 chance of passing FnP. My battle plan is to deepstrike my Grots into enemy lines like Mushkilla does with his Repugnant Ramblers and having the MCs footslog to the enemy, the scout special rule helping me with that. This way the enemy is stuck between two walls that are slowly drawing closer to each other to squash him in between. The lack of uniits sitting on home objectives and getting VPs for it like in Mushkillas list is balanced out by the Corpsethief Claw getting VPs for killing non-vehicle units. The enemy home objectives should be mine anyway because everything that comes near to it will be mauled to pieces. That is at least the theory of it all.

I think I will struggle against a few lists but there is probably no army without a counter anyway. Candidates for this would be:
-Venomspam Dark Eldar
-D-Weaponspam Eldar
-Everything that Is Gargantuan
-...???

And last but not least a few questions regarding special rules:
-Does Shred work against vehicles? So can you reroll to glance/pen?
-Does the Haemonculus give his Cronos and Talos Zealot from his Power from Pain?

Your battle plan and list seem sound. Although as pointed out by @The_Burning_Eye earlier in this thread you will need to focus on playing the mission against a lot of armies, objective placement is key (in both maelstrom and eternal war). In maelstrom having a good feel for what cards you and your opponent can and can't score is important too.

As for your list, I would suggest a few minor tweaks.

Drop the scissor hands on the haemonculus unless you plan on taking an aberration. Otherwise your opponent will just use challenges to prevent your haemonculus from fighting (most things will beat a haemonculus in a challenge).

Take a few ichor injectors on your talos, these add instant death and fleshbane to the mix which can help against other MCs/Gargantuan creatures.

Something to consider would be haywire blasters on the corpse thief claw if you feel you run into problems against imperial knights/walkers. Although against most other lists the splinter cannons will probably come in handier.

No.

Yes.

Hope that helps. Very Happy
