PostSubject: Flying Nurgle Daemon Prince Sorcerer   Sat Apr 18 2015, 12:15

Hey guys

I saw a guy at my local store using a flying Nurgle Daemon Prince with ML3 the other day, and boy did it clean up. With Jink and Shrouded (from MoN) it had a perpetual 2+ cover save, it has (at least - glide vs swoop) 12" movement, and could chuck out horrible amounts of psychic hurt even while jinking because there seem to be no restrictions on manifesting powers after electing to jink (unlike with shooting attacks which can only snap-shoot). It could choose to swoop and force snap shots against it, or glide and assault stuff.

Two questions:

1. Is this legal? (it certainly seems to be...)
2. What can we do against it?

On a 4'x4' board it's not easily avoided if gliding and our lack of Skyfire means its very hard to hit while swooping. Our poison mitigates its T6, which is a start, but there's still that pesky 2+ cover save.

Try grounding it with splinter cannons on jets. And when it's grounded: kill it!

You can't ground a FMC which is gliding... it is already on the ground but still can jink for a 2+ cover save.

It can't jink when it's gliding. (Gliding meaning movement just like jump infantry, right?)

Unfortunately, its jink save is conferred by being a flying monstrous creature, not by its movement mode.

Crucible of Malediction and Helm of Spite might help?

Damn. You are right! What about grounding him and attacking it with witches or an archon?

Yep, if he can be grounded while swooping then you need to keep him out of the air and bog him down in assault. But, I don't run wyches and don't always run a Razorwing (and I don't fancy my chances with snap shots from ground troops) so it's far from foolproof.

How long do you think an Agoniser + Shadowfield Archon would be able to keep him busy for, if he's gliding?

The Archon might actually kill the prince.
