I think whay we havent heard this mor often from Necron players is because their head formation is ne real tax. Plus one reanimation and warriors/immos - you want those anyway. Now if you enter a tournament that is restricted on two detachments f.e. you might be better of with just a CAD

Not really as the Codex clearly says that the Decurion is a single detachment and all formations in it belong to the decurion.

While seer council looks very potent I have gotten this far without using psychics.

Now BS 5 dragons and spiders... that gives me tingles in all the right places!

Well yes, but if you want a seer council for you DE army you probably dont want all the other eldar. Well no again, you want the three plus... sorry I got confused Smile
I played against the old seer-council Harlequin death star last week with msu DE and Dark Artisan and it was doable. But it is a potent threat. 30 warp charges makes it invincible after the first psychic phase.

Seer Council support is brilliant, but fragile. A super-expensive unit that is hilariously vulnerable to large blast templates. Besides Seer Councils now provide only Lvl 3 Psychic mastery at unit sizes above 7, and casts only a blessing, malediction and witchfire power per turn, not 7-10 different powers. If you want some support take 5- plus the two Farseers, and have them run around buffing stuff.

If I want to ally some DE, it's an Archon with WWP along with a unit of D-Scythe Wraithguards.

They dont have to be 1 unit

Use them as 3 different units spread out across you army.

Warlock Conclaves are taken as one unit now, and you can no longer spread them out like they used to, according to the leaks.

1-3, lvl 1, 4-6, lvl 2, 7+ lvl 3.

Take 7, with 2 farseers in the unit for what is effectively a death star.

I'd spread your Farseers into your Windriders, that way they can potentially both cast the same power if required.

Actually I've just had a thought:

Farseers are brilliant for Wyches and Reavers more- if you roll all your powers on Sanctic that is. Gate of Infinity is hilarious if you get it (Deep strike that raider or another unit of Reavers elsewhere out of enemy LOS, or a Talos, if you happen to have one within 24" into enemy LOS), Hammerhand means the Wyches/Reavers are now raping the enemy units, instead of the otherway (potentially S7 drugs depending). If your Farseer is with Wyches, make sure you save some dice to pull off Sanctuary. Congratulates, your ladies now have Storm Shields. If with Reavers, you just won't find it as useful.

As for the Seer Councils, 5 of them on Jetbike, is not a bad idea- the same set of powers is just as amazing. Singing Spears are must takes either as Councils or Farseers joining Reavers/Wyches.

Plus, if you happen to be playing Daemons, hit certain units with Banishment every now and then.

It's only weaknesses are that well you have to get powers in the first place (Hammerhand and Sanctuary are must, Gate of Infinity is hilarious but optional (2, 3 and 1 respectively). If you roll 4, 5, 6, swap them for Primaris then roll again)

8 + D6 power dice for your casting pleasure. All that manifest on 3+, with possible spares permitting to ignore wounds from perils.

The Farseers can be Idependant is what I was saying, 3 units: 1 Farseer, 1 Farseer, 1 Warlock unit.

@PainReaver

I was running a Farseer and a Warlock concel on bikes (the Farseer on Bikes but with a Bike troop unit) And its alot of points, but witht he Powers it really helped out.

I was even thinking a unit of 8 Grots with Archon WWP and a Farseer for Support powers Smile

The Seer Council is probably my most anticipated goodie from the new codex. I've talked about the Freakshow lists I run, but if you're interested in reading more about them I've started a tactical guide, which you can find here.

The book being out and likely people have been looking, so this might be pointless...but the farseers are not independent. They have to stick with the conclave. That said, the unit is still fairly bad ass. So far I've had one game with them and ran 7 warlocks, 1 telepathy seer, and 1 fate seer with the spirit stone. Worked out fairly good. Next game I get in I'd like to add some rolls on divination, either going that route rather than runes of fate, or just having another farseer from a CAD.

Now that the book is out they are one unit But still easy to use.

I still like the idea of it and think it could really help DE.

Im looking into a DE/Eldar army now more than ever, I Love the Wraithknight and Bikes... only models that I like and for under 700 points I can get some power/bikes/Wraithknight and make them all DE looking Smile

It is basically the old Seerstar. Less powers but easier to use.

another reason why I like it is, the 3+ to get powers off, Im already going to be lower on dice (being DE main) so the better chances to get it off is ideal Smile

To be fair I tried an Eldar army vs an IG with 2 Primaris, Inquisitor and Psyker henchmen.
I had the Farseer (in shining spears) and 3 warlocks in 3 Guardian squads. Even with "only" 6 dice base I managed to block him completely in his phase (Farseer gets to reroll once per phase) and cast freely all game long.
The "new Seerstar" will come with 10 dice base (if you keep it small), so unless you go against GK, Nids or Daemons you won't be "low on dice".
