PostSubject: DE Demolition Derby   Sat Mar 07 2015, 20:30

I have had a string of awful luck with my DE and my kabalite/venom spam is fairing poorly. So I thought of loading up my raiders/venoms with tankshock capabilities and forcing LD tests followed by PGL and/or TGL in subsequent turns. However I find the rules regarding this to be a little convoluted. It says in the BRB units falling back automatically fail morale tests, and in the LD portion it says that they can auto fail. Just wondering how this would all play out? Thoughts?

Sounds like an awesome idea to me. I've been thinking about a bunch of raiders with shock prow to mix things up some at my lgs.

But then you run into And They Shall Know No Fear or a unit with melta and you're SoL.

Then you just don't tank shock, and you're out a measly five points per vehicle. It's a deficit, but not an unworkable one. Lots of highly competitive options can leave you at a minor disadvantage if you run into a certain type of army.

I think it definitely has potential, especially in a Ld Shenanigans list (like the Freakshow list I've been running ever since the Covens supplement dropped).

How does the PGL and TGL soulfright rules work on units that are falling back? Because if they auto-fail that would be amazing but also doesn't give a clear number to work for when determining wounds. This is the problem i'm having with this list.

I don't have my books on me but isn't the test for PGL/TGL a leadership test, not a morale test (a morale test being a subset of leadership tests)? In which case they wouldn't auto fail.

Yes, that is the case, so it wouldn't be any better or worse than it already is.

I like this idea in principle, in practice how effective it is will vary hugely on deployment and all sorts of other things. I did once manage to shock a unit off the table, and it was immensely satisfying Twisted Evil

Yeah, in theory it sounds like it could work, but it seems like you won't have much room for error. Meaning it gives you precision when executed well, and leaves points on the table when executed poorly. Definitely sounds fun though, and I think people would enjoy playing against something different like this. About how many Raiders were you looking at loading up, and what were you looking at supporting them with?
