But, since you can only take one, who would you give it to - your Warlord or your secondary Haemonculus?

Probably the Warlord, he makes for juicier bait. Besides I'll probably be dropping the panacea to pay for those heatlances. Very Happy

Yeah, I'm probably overestimating them. We will see how it goes.

I wish coven units had access to power axes to be honest.

Sorry, but how does a large footprint help you?

A larger footprint makes it easier to block non skimmers, and also allows you to threaten more of the board. You only need to have one grotesque make it into B2B with the target and all grotesques within 6-7" can attack that target. You effectively get an extra 6-7" of threat range, when you take into account that a models just need to be within 2" of a model in B2B to participate, grotesques have a base size of 40mm and a get a 3" pile in move. It's an old Ork trick. Very Happy

Ah, of course.

Likewise.

I forgot to answer with my reasoning behind the Haemovores. It was mainly for the extra pile in move, as with these large units it's not always guaranteed the haemonculus will be close enough to fight in combat. It also add a bunch of attacks at a different initiative step which can be handy for sniping models (you must allocate wounds against a model in B2B with a model that struck at that initiative step).

Enter the Lictor. For a lowly half a century, each Lictor is packed with Wave Serpent-killing power. 5 str 6 attacks on the charge along with 2 str 6 shooting attacks means each and every Lictor has the potential to kill a Wave Serpent all on its own. When you compare that to the cost of the Wave Serpent and obligatory payload, you can quickly see that the Lictors are able to overwhelm the Serpents in short order. With the ability to deep-strike with no scatter, they also destroy the vehicle’s range advantage. With enough Lictors the Eldar simply won’t be able to kill them fast enough before all their tanks are dead.

With the lictorShame list winning the 11th Company GT, and now LVO, for the reasons mentioned above. I'm thinking I might be onto something with my list (as again it relies on assault and no scatter deepstrike). Bellow is another interesting piece from the man behind the lictoreShame list.

Also sure I didnt play against waveserpents at that particular event. But does that really mean you think I cant beat wave serpents? A wave serpent list is the most ubiquitous tournament list out there and has been for over a year, if you honestly go to a tournament without knowing how you will perform against waveserpents then you are deluding yourself. Wave serpents are popular because they are very easy to get high performance out of due to their consistency and durability. So newer players can pick them up and get good results, and good to great players can really get a lot out of them.

But that consistency comes with a double edged sword so to speak. They are boring... and predictable. You know exactly how much damage and threat levels that a wave serpent list can put out... so does the player using the list, thats why he brought it he can count on particular damage. They also cant adapt very well to things that break their mold... often they have 5-7 serpents with mostly dire avengers, and a sliding scale of serpents and fire dragons to wraithknights ratio, maybe some hawks or spiders too.

I just Bought 3 Boxes of Ogres for grots, I have 5 Talos and getting a Cronos soon, I loved this BatRep it is something that I wanted to try.

A few ideas.

Buy 2 Raiders with NF and Enhanced Aethersails for the 2 grot units. This will give you 2 Units with Amazing movements for Objectives. They will be empty with no lance, so your opponent might just ignore them all together.

The Raiders are 75pts At that point, but to have a 36" moving object holder is huge IMO.

I wanted to use 2 nits of 6 Grots with a Heami with WWP, Dark artisan with WWP starting a Bastion with a Coms Relay and a Hatch, Im using the Scarlet Epicureans, the Haemi will be placed with a Unit of grots with WWP, the Wracks in Bastions and On top. The Escape hatch pointed to a Objective. The cronos is free to do w/e.

This is a 1500pts list, Tho my Haemis dont have Scissor hands.

EDIT: I have played smaller versions of the list above as Allies to my DE, playing against SM and Orcs it did REALLY WELL!.

But I never thought it would do good against a Shooting army like Necrons, Tau or Eldar, You have made me think otherwise, I never thought about the large footprint and anti movement from it, Tho I still think Eldar will win due to Wave Serpents.

In this list one of my own limitations is not to have any vehicles. That being said it's definitely a good idea, personally though I would not give the raiders any gear (maybe sails), and just keep them cheap and expendable at 55-60pts. I might consider taking them in my list if I feel I really need cheap expendable blocker/objective scorers to be successful. Right now though I want to keep this army as portable as possible.

It's a shame the Covenite Coterie detachment can't take bastions/bunkers/aegis for the comms relay, it would be quite handy to get some reliable reserve manipulation in there (again I could turn to eldar allies but it's something i'm trying to avoid).

Yes, footprint and "anti-movement" (Dark Movement? Razz) can be really powerful when used properly and can rob your opponent of any mobility advantage they thought they had.

My next game is against serpents, not sure when I'll get the report up though. Should be interesting. Very Happy

Yeah For tournaments DE books cant take Forts, At our Local store we play the rules 100% nothing modified at all and play as rules are. So I take unbound technical b.c I take a Bastion, I mostly Take the bastion b.c I love my Sweet Conversion of it.

Tho without the Bastion my lists are always 100% tournament legal.

I have played with 5 Talos 2 Cronos, Loads of Wracks and Grots with 6 Raiders, I used those raiders as LOS blocking and for Ramming unit like Pathfinders, it was really fun XD

EDIT: PS.. What are you using for those battle reports, it looks like Vissal?(is that whats it called) If so I couldnt figure it out, I wouldnt mind learning how to use it just to do BatReps with instead of taking Pics during games.

It is Vassal with the 40k version in it.

Which is funny that Mush is using it since he has a tutorial for Battle Chronicler! Very Happy

Here's what the Eldar player will be running (game is at 1250 on a 6x4 board with maelstrom missions):

1 x Farseer, jetbike, mantle of the laughing god

3 x 5 dire avengers, wave serpent, holofield and scatter laser
1 x 5 fire dragons, exarch, wave serpent, holofield and scatter laser

1 x wraith knight

Going to be a rough game.
