Agree that they are what Wyches should be.  Unfortunately for us, too many people already own Wyche models.  So they got stomped, rule-wise, and their role will be filled by shiny, new plastic toys.  Damn you, GW.

So use your Wych models! Don't be a slave to GW!

Personally I'm hoping that this codex puts my Raging Heroes Blood Vestals back on the table, and not just on anti-vehicle duty like last year!

I would love to get some harlies but frankly I don't have the time to build it paint at the moment. But I do have 40 Wyches which could certainly be used as far as I'm concerned.

In terms of cost and codex, it strikes me as pretty similar to Scions. Which are so expensive as an army and very difficult to use as an individual army but in the right situation, they can hit like a sledgehammer! I think harlies will be like that which is part of the appeal. Expensive, difficult to utilise well and fragile. Which sounds great fun! Also, what is the skyweaver, any details?

It's the Harli Jetbike and there are details of rules and pics in the thread in the News & Rumours section.

The Starweaver is the transport and there are a few blurry pics starting to appear now. Looks roughly Venom size/shape but with different weaponry.

I've been following all the leaks, every week untill now. Man, I'd like to field this army. A lot.

I even tried to write a list and see how could the Harlequin Masque look like(the Harlequin Force, as leaked recently).

- No HQ options

- 3 mandatory Troops:

1st Harlequin Troupe: 246 points
5 Players + 1 Great Harlequin
2 fusion pistols
2 kisses
2 caresses
2 embraces
Dedicated Transport: 1 Starweaver (Note: I assume it can carry 6 models, as you can see from some leaked WD pics)

2nd Harlequin Troupe: 246 points
5 Players + 1 Great Harlequin
2 fusion pistols
2 kisses
2 caresses
2 embraces
Dedicated Transport: 1 Starweaver

3rd Harlequin Troupe: 246 points
5 Players + 1 Great Harlequin
2 fusion pistols
2 kisses
2 caresses
2 embraces
Dedicated Transport: 1 Starweaver

- 2 Mandatory Fast Attack

3x Skyweaver Jetbikes with 3xHaywire Cannons: 165

3x Skyweaver Jetbikes with 3xHaywire Cannons: 165

- 1 Mandatory Heavy Support

3x Voidweavers: 225

- 7 Optional Elites

1 Solitaire, Haywire Grenades 150

We still don't know how much DJs and Shadowseers cost (by the cost of the Solitaire I expect them to cost 100 points or less.

But this list costs a bit less than 1300 points. It may be fragile, but man it's fast and brutal against anything but flyers...

9 shurikannons against infantry and medium to low AVs
9 haywire cannons (S4 AP4 HW Blast!) against all AVs and hordes
6 bolas (S6 AP2 Blast One Use Only) against TEQ
6 Fusion Pistols just in case
And then comes the sweet stuffing, the troupes. Oh and the Solitaire.

If the DJs get some anti-air love, oh my. This is not a glass cannon. This is a diamond blade. It may crash, but heck it pierces through everything.

Hey all, been out for a while. Anyway, definitely down with the harlequins. The transport isn't particularly inspiring, but they will be a welcome addition as a small allied detachment. Not too sure about the jetbikes for the harlies tho. What are thoughts around these? Thinking if I don't buy the harlies (at least immediately) then my wyches will still get to come out of the cupboard in that role instead, the succubus as a solitaire and so on. The new death jester and shadowseer look nice too.

From what we've seen of the rules, people seem to be favoring DE reavers over the harlequin bikes. They are much cheaper and arguably more versatile with cluster caltrops being strong anti infantry and situationally strong against vehicle rear/side armor. The AV option for harlequin bikes is a blast weapon so it cannot be used after jinking (they do have a once per game rule that lets them avoid jinking for one turn however).

Unless they have some army wide special rule or formation rule that makes them amazing my thoughts on them are this: If you absolutely love Harlequins and have been waiting for a legitimate way to include them in your army, you have lots of awesome looking new models and a brand new codex to do it. If you want to try really hard and win every game, they probably won't help you that much.

I just had an idea: If the Starweaver can be bought empty as a fast attack choice, I could theoretically use it to transport both Blasterborn and a Blaster Archon! Very Happy

[Edit:] Scratch that. It sounds nice, but is actually pretty impractical.

It is listed as a fast attack in the white dwarf. I'm fairly new to this forum I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post scans of the rules for you.

The 5+IC capacity is definately worth exploring, once we see the full rules.

You can post the link but not the actual pic I think.

Succubus count-as Solitaire

Hydra Gauntlets count as Kiss, they tear into the foe with one devastating hit
Razorflails count as Caress, the mono-edged flails slice deep into the enemy's weakpoints.
Shardnet count-as Embrace, the shardnet is thrown to devastating effect.

A deathjester can be made with a spare splintercannon, virulent poison ammunition and all.

It works out nicely. Has anyone been playing with count-as rules so far?

My Wyches stay as they are, since I still don't have enough Warriors to write them off my list and I don't need Harlequins that badly right now.
But I will be using my allied Spiritseer (a slightly converted Alarielle) as a Shadowseer from now on. Smile
