PostSubject: Kabal solaris mortem   Mon Oct 20 2014, 08:48

So with the release of the new dex, I have jumped back to my dark eldar (despite being soooo close to finisheing my night lords...).

My previous attempt at dark eldar was my first after having returned to the hobby after many years out and suffice to say my painting and modelling skills were poor and did not justice to the beautiful models of the dark eldar.

I am in the process of selling off my old dark eldar except for a select few and re-invigorating my true kin with my improved skills with scalpel and brush.

Here is the first model of my new scheme, I would welcome any feedback on the colours as well as the execution of the painting:

You can't quite see it on the pictures but the sash around the waist is purple, I would plan on painting a few of the feather purple against the blue on the feather winged models.

Below is a few pictures of my older models which I hope illustrates my progression in painting skill:

Thoughts, comments and criticisms are always welcome Smile

PS I know thats the wrong hand to hold the haywire blaster but they only give you one hand a box to fit the heat lance/haywire blaster so I'm improvising for the other two that will be in each squad!

Nice Progress so far! I really like the OSL on the eyes and weapon.
The yellow could use a bit more depth as far as Im concerned. Maybe apply another layer of darker wash.

Thanks for the comment! I think the depth might be due to me turning the balance down on the camera as otherwise it became saturated in my lighting conditions.

I will try and take some other pictures to see what you think.

I will also add an additional darker wash stage on the next model I try to see how that looks.

I'm looking for a pretty bright finish so not to keen on washing over this one.

First time really attempting the OSL effect so glad that you think it looks good!

Dont get me wrong, I like the bright finish and im not saying you should apply the wash to the whole armour after you finished. Maybe you simply could start with a darker brown/yellow or just wash the deep parts

Squad of scourges done now, I added a wash to several areas with agarax earthshade as you suggested Caspaar and I do think it adds a lot to the look.

Many thanks Smile

Any more comments from any?

Nice scourges you got there! The yellow looks really good Smile. The blue feathers form a nice contrast, too. Cant wait to see some other models painted. Especially look forward to some vehicles

Yes they look great. I really like what you have done on the bat wings especially, and the yellow blue combo does indeed work well Smile
