PostSubject: Zlatan's carnivale of pain! (ting)   Tue Oct 14 2014, 21:24

Greetings fellow creeps of Commorragh!

I've always loved the dark eldar range and the recent plastic Haemonculus has compelled me to finally bite the bullet and start a collection. I'll be painting this army alongside my space wolves at first so progress may be slow but I'll keep it regularly updated.

Any comments and especially tips are very welcome, and if anyone has any questions about how I've done them I'll be happy to answer.

Here are the first few models. They're going to have snow bases eventually but so far only one kabalite has been based. More to follow soon!

That spine is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen in 40k. Awesome.
All of this is amazing. But I like the use of shiny goo most of all.

This is really amazing! If I would have Wracks in my army, this is how i would paint them!

You also must be the first person that not only liked new Haemonculus model, but started new army because of it! Laughing

Looking really good! Especially the skinned skin looks nice. What did you use to do it? I, too wanted to paint them rather gore-y and wanted to give the GW blood effect a try.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

@Caspaar - The skin is Rakarth Flesh, then Carroburg Crimson wash, then Rakarth flesh again painted in horizontal bands across the muscle, then a screaming skull final highlight, then bloodletter glaze. And finally another really sparing screaming skull highlight.
I paint the skin first then the rest of the model. Once the rest of the model is done I use Blood for the Blood God technical paint around the parts of the skin where the tubes and hooks attach, and finally varnish the skin with 'Ardcoat to give it a wet gruesome look.

Keep up the good work!

Love the sharp contrast in your kabalite warriors, any advice of how you paint the red armor on them. I have a WIP archon which is similar to the armor of your warriors.

But the way you paint the red is pretty much better than my own.
