Hold off.
the rumor stated at first was:
"Scourges can now take 4 special weapons"

The thing was, they ALWAYS could take 4 if the unit size was 10, so since the words "can now" were put in the rumor, people are ASSUMING and HOPING that means 4 per 5 man squad.

If I had to place a bet, I would say "not gonna happen" just based on the across the board nerfs we seem to have gotten.

There is ZERO, NONE, NADA ZIP and ZILCH rumor out there that it is 4 weapons per 5 guys. It just snowballed.

Hope it is true, but better safe than sorry.

I've heard that they, not only can take 4 Heavies in a 5-bird-squad, but also got 6pts cheaper. Each. Also, They're the only unit (except maybe the sslyths) who may use carbines.

It's finally scourge time. (Got 24, have to re-arm a lot of them).

I love Scourges. I really want them to get a bit of a boost, though I'd be using my 5 anyway. I might get another box so I can run 4x Haywire in one unit, and 5x Shardcarbine in another.

Even if they just get cheaper, I'd be tempted to run ten strong squads. Six points would be a nice decrease, I'd run with that. They're so pretty, and all they do is sit on my shelf, tears running down their beaks...

If the 4 weapons are true, they may begin to fill my FA slots, as I do use reavers quite often, but the 4 lances, or haywires or 4 splinter cannons will be deadly to my opponents, especially when deep striking. I'd probably run them in groups of 5, more maneuverable and better options in shooting, rather use two units to take a unit down, than only need the 4 to take one but fire 8.

I'm with gobsmacked - together with the new improved mandrakes - nasty. Mandrakes lost the 5+inv, but got shrouded + stealth which IMHO is even better. They also start automatically with baleblast and the only change to it is instead of pinning it's got soul blaze. So add them to some scourge drops and you have something evil going on.

Hold your breath guys, the spanish leak says that "A unit of 5 azotes (possibly undead?) with 4 burning lances costs 120 points" ... now look for a translation for azotes. undead? In azeroth maybe... i am still skeptical, but when I pick up the codey I will immediatly check and buy at least another Box. already bought Bits for those i have... they are amongst the Best looking models, cheapest moneywise and if they want to be better trueborn, i am glad to have them!

i found a translation of azotes (esp)

as "the act of inflicting corporal punishment with repeated blows"

and in English, a saying that is often depicted old timey movies about slavery- to scourge someone (i.e whip back).

So my bet, scourges.

I like your thinking Mr.Believer!

I was also thinking of doing something like this.

2 units of 5 haywire scourges.
10 scourges with 4 heat lances or blasters with and WWP character (maybe an archon with blaster?) to deepstrike in a nice I blow your precious vehicle's, imperial knight or mow some infantry down. AND 2 razorwings!

Just curious if that FoC still has objective secured troops?

Nope. objective secured is only for the FoC in the BRB

Bibitybobitbacon (such a fun name to write by the way, congrats!) speaks truth. Of course, if you were planning on crippling the movement of the enemy anyway, lack of ObSec might not be such a big deal Twisted Evil

I bought a couple of boxes as well, they're the best looking unit, I've been waiting for a good reason to purchase them.
On the "azotes" thing, it's on the box as their spanish name.
Also the 4 in a 5 man squad has been confirmed by Scorpion in the other thread. This is really happening! Smile

Now for the life of me I can't find any Haywire Blasters on the internet anywhere!

Yeah, they're tricky to find. I started this thread with some conversion suggestions earlier, maybe it'll be of some help Smile

maybe convert some mixing the not overly used shredders and maybe blaster or heat lance?

Chopping the ends off of shredders and glueing them onto the sawed off barrels of dark lances is the way I made extra!

These are my original Scourges, done before the new models appeared, using Shredders.  I lengthened the barrels with some plastic tubing and just filed the fins on the end down to re-profile them a bit.

Hmmm, 5 w/4 Haywire, 5 w/4 Heat, 9 w/4 sc and 5 with.... What? Should I take 4 blasters for a move+ shoot unit with a 12+18" Threat range, or should I take 4 DL for a non-moving 36" threat range? Non-moving doesn't sound like something I like. Or maybe mixed weapons (1 HW, 1 HL, 2 Blasters)? Or maybe split the last five on the 3 units, and take all 3 razorwings instead of 2. Or maybe shelf them and 4 from the 9-bird-squad? for extra pts for my Razorwings? Or maybe convert more haywire from spare chronos parts?

I'd say NEVER give them lances. If they move, they snap shoot , so less than one hit, math hammering. Then they sit still and fire in their next turn, provided the vehicle hasn't just moved out of their way. For the loss of six inches of range, you might as well have given them blasters so they could contribute to wasting a squad of marines or something. I honestly can't think of any good reason to give them the lances, unless they were free. Even then I'd take carbines!
